  1. There was another report I believe that said that there were a gap between the winner and everyone else. If that's the case, and the Jays bid between 40-50 million, it doesn't look very good for the Cubs bid. Still holding out hope that like 90% of information from 'sources' this is BS
  2. Nice work Leddy to set up Bolland! 3-0
  3. Hawks absolutely hosed out of a goal. For the 2nd game in a row we are playing with a handicap
  4. Hawks are getting screwed out of a goal again
  5. How are the Ducks so bad this year? John Scott does the only thing he does well...kicking ass
  6. WGN Not WGN America. Doesnt surprise me with it being a preseason game.
  7. Yay Hawks winning
  8. You have a really weird idea of fun. Now that we are beyond that era its kind of funny to watch how stupid we were and how far we've come in terms of philosophy.
  9. Prince Fielder video of the day: I dont remember seeing this when it originally happened. "I wanna handle my [expletive] business"
  10. That 2005 game is fun if only because you see Neifi and Enrique Wilson at 1-2 for the Cubs. And because Jon Koronka was the starter. If they were going to choose a Derrick Lee game to commentate that season, I'm surprised they didn't choose the 6-6 game at Wrigley against the Marlins.
  11. Yeah but no one knows the Cubs bid. And thats the only way they could possibly know is by knowing what the other teams bid. I'm pretty sure that the identities of the teams that made the individual bids are kept hidden so that the Japanese team doesnt even know what team its selection when it chooses the highest bid. I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere yesterday. Unless I am missing some information that you've seen leaked, I think the Cubs are definitely in play here still.
  12. After 31 games last year, the Hawks had 35 points. This year after 31 games, 44 points. Nice
  13. How much were people expecting Darvish to get posted for pbefore this process started? I thought I remember seeing something between $30-50 million. Yesterday they were saying that one team bit extremely high and the Nippon team was really excited when they saw it. If that's all true, and the Jays offered between 40-50 mil, then the Cubs either blew that away with their offer, or their offer was well short of what Toronto bid. I'm sure Theo had a great feel for what range other teams were going to offer. I don't think he would make an offer just to say he made an offer. Or make an average offer and hope that the market was exaggerated. I could be wrong though. I honestly think this was his main target in the offseason, and I think the Cubs might have won this. All based on a lot of speculation and twitter garbage though, so I could be way off.
  14. 17-0 Falcons. Not that I expected the Jags to win and not that I expect the Bears to miraculously make the playoffs but its depressing that its looking like the Bears will basically have to beat the Packers or the Falcons will have to lose out to make the playoffs.
  15. Retweeted by Ace Maybe I'm just stating the obvious but my thought was he was talking about the chances of getting theo when the GM search process started. But then if he's saying that, he's saying the Cubs have a better than 2% chance of getting Darvish?
  16. It's amazing, I've started to get that 'this is a bigger game than normal feeling' whenever the Hawks have a game on Versus. They've done a good job overall. I enjoy their studio show more than the NHL Networks (although theirs is not that bad). And I'm not sure how people in general feel about Emrick, but I enjoy games that he broadcasts. Part of it is nostalgia from 2010, but its also the overall excitement he brings to the broadcast.
  17. Trying to figure out signs that he couldn't say. Caught wind of a meeting between Cubs brass and Boras? And he can't say either because he's not sure it's about Fielder, or because a source asked him not to say any more than that? Cubs know they lost out on Darvish somehow? That was my guess. Crasnick found out but can't reveal it until the Ham Fighters accept or deny the bid. Then again, if any ESPN writer got any sort of info on Darvish it would be a race to see how quickly they can post it on Twitter.
  18. I'll see what I can do. And please don't use that crappy ass Linkin Park thanks for the memories song. k, thanks
  19. Those are great moments. At the expense of derailing this thread, here are a few more I personally hold dear. 1. The Sunday game against the Marlins at Wrigley where a Cub slump had put the Cubs into a tie with Milwaukee. The Cubs went down 5-0 and the Brewers were up 4-1 over Houston at the same time. NSBB was doom and gloom and figured we were going into a 4 game series in Milwaukee 1 game back. Suddenly, with the score 5-2 Sori hits a 3 run shot to tie and the Astros hang a 7 spot on Milwakuee and after a huge Fontenot bases clearly double in the 8th to break the tie, the Cubs ended the day 1 up, before going to Milwaukee and getting a 4 game sweep, effectively taking control of the division 2. Another Marlins game, this one in Florida. The Cubs had historically struggled at that park, so many were anxious to see how this team was different. The Cubs were down 5-3 in the 9th when Daryle Ward hit a 3 run bomb to give the Cubs the lead. Woody came on and was shaky but somehow retired the Marlins for the W. 3. Cubs Cardinals game where Jim Edmonds hit 2 solo HRs to provide the scoring in a 2-1 win. I still dislike Edmonds, but it was awesome to see him stare at LaRussa in the Cardinals dugout after his 2nd HR. 4. Obviously we lost and that sucked, but Fukudome's 3 run homer on opening day was amazing live. 5. The double comeback in Colorado. Cubs were down 5-4 in the 9th. Ramirez hits a 2 run homer to give the Cubs the lead, Woody blows the save, and then in the top of the next inning the Cubs scratch another run across on a Theriot single and finally closed the door in the bottom half. 6. Comeback win over the White Sox at Wrigley. Cubs trailing 3-1 in the 7th. Lee hits a solo HR to make it 3-2, and then Ramirez gives some lucky fan $7000 by going back to back in the 7th inning to tie it. Then Ramirez leads off the 9th and take the first pitch to the shrubs in CF for the win. 7. Game 1 of the aforementioned Brewers-Cubs series in Milwaukee. Sabathia was the big story in baseball and lights out since getting to Milwaukee. Soriano led the game off with a double and eventually scored, then in the 3rd he hit a solo HR to make it 2-0. The Brewers ended up taking a 3-2 lead until the Cubs scored 2 off a Weeks error. After a Branyan HR to tie it, in the 9th with 2 on, Lee pulled a double into RF to score the go ahead run and clinching the victory. So satisfying.
  20. I dont necessarily hate Barber but I will blame him for missing the playoffs if winning that game would have gotten us in.
  21. Why doesn't Demp just go to the NSBB game thread to figure out who is pitching?
  22. Good win even thought we should have won in regulation. This is the first time I've seen Minnesota this year and they look pretty decent. Horrible first for them but outplayed us for stretches of the next 2 periods. My guess is that they are legit.
  23. Oh my God Patrick Kane that was sick. Hawks win!
