  1. Because there wasn't much else to do at that point except have some kind of blind faith that Hanie would not suck too badly. Presumably he knew the entire playbook and would be able to execute at a half decent level. Which is not what has happened obviously. Yeah, except there was all of one quarter of meaningful sample size to go on there and even in that sample size he threw two INT. He's the worst quarterback we've trotted out since the pre-Grossman era of Quinn/Krenzel/Etc You honestly think that Hanie is worse than Collins? I dunno about that. 6-16, 32 yards 0 TD, 4 INT against the 2-14 Panthers
  2. If there was any way to get Chicago fully behind a QB, this was the way. Have him rolling, then get hurt and have his backup blow the season and lead the worst offense in the NFL. I wish we somehow had gotten Orton. He would have come in during the KC game and we probably win at least 2 of these 3 games (KC, Den, Sea)
  3. So he seems somewhat smart. A career in insurance might be good for him, although I hear that garbagemen make good money so maybe that's the route he chooses.
  4. If you would have told me before the season that occured in week 15, I would have thought: holy [expletive] we're 13-1 and clinched HFA already!
  5. Why would you think that?
  6. I'm trying to think if the Packers losing is good for the Bears or bad. I would thinking bad. Losing means that HFA is still not clinched when we play them. And even if we beat them, they will likely have clinched it by virtue of SF losing. If that happens they have nothing to play for against the Lions in Week 17
  7. So Hanie....garbage man or insurance salesman come February?
  8. LOL!!! HES IN A GROOVE!!! right when they said that, I said here comes the INT
  9. Why is there always a receiver wide open exactly 10 yards down the field on most 3rd downs?
  10. I'm sure they missed a penalty somewhere.
  11. But only after Bell breaks off a long run gets to the 1 yard line and then randomly falls down like he's been shot and in pain drops the football, which is recovered for Seattle and returned for a TD as whatever good players we have left on offense get hurt trying to stop them. Actually, Bell is not important enough. Switch out Bell with Lance Briggs and the same scenario above happens. And then Virginia announces the Bears are moving to LA.
  12. Mike Pereira @MikePereira 3m Details Correct leverage call in Chi/Sea - you can't step on an opponent or own teammate to block a kick.
  13. Seriously, every time something bad happens to the Bears, say 'what else can go wrong'. By the end of the game we'll lose 57-0 and most of our starting D will be paralyzed or brain dead, plus Virginia McKaskey will announce the Bears are moving to LA after the game.
  14. Oh man, now we need to get 3 FGs to even have a shot.
  15. HAHAHA What else can go wrong?!?!!?! Keep asking that
  16. lol, the mental errors continue. This team just didnt do things like this before Cutler was hurt. It was like flipping a switch.
  17. Time for another patented Calib Hanie 97 yard TD drive.
  18. turned it on at 12:05 and already missed the Bears first 3 and out. drats
  19. because they were for their entire history until what, 15 years ago? Believe it or not their first year in the NFC was only 2002. Also technically they played in the NFC their first season in existance (1976).
  20. Just for fun, I am ignoring the Giants, Falcons and everyone else and just focusing on the Lions and Bears and 1 playoff spot. If the Bears and Lions tie at 9-7, there are 9 possible scenarios, and only 2 of them involve the Bears getting in over Detroit. Detroit loses to either Oakland or San Diego, but not both and loses to GB. Chicago loses to Seattle and beats GB and Minnesota. If the Lions and Bears were to tie at 10-6, there are 3 scenarios that can occur with Chicago making it in one of them: Detroit beats Oakland and San Diego and loses to GB Chicago wins out Given that in any 3 team tie with Detroit and another team, the Bears will still have the same issues of winning the tiebreaker over the Lions to contend with, those scenarios are the only chances the Bears have to make the playoffs unless the Bears simply finish with a better record than Detroit. I know, the Bears are done and its stupid to discuss, but for some reason I like putting together this stuff so screw you. I think this is right but I've been wrong on these before.
  21. That picture is priceless. Man Kaman looks like he should be holed up in some remote cabin in Montana
  22. Yeah but its not hard to use back channels to get work out that they are interested in someone. Teams do it all the time. As we've seen, the new Cubs regime, starting with Tom Ricketts is very tight lipped and do not let much leak unless there's a reason to. We might have to get used to not having 3 month mega threads about Brian Roberts and Jake Peavy. Lets just say that if Hendry were still the manager, I would be pretty convinced that we werent going after Fielder, but with Theo in charge, I almost think the less we hear the better the odds are.
  23. Heh. I have the set's post-1989 games deteriorating on VHS as we speak. VH-what? (the funny thing is, in about 5-10 years that will be a legitimate statement from someone in their early 20's)
  24. Lingering WWII resentment?
  25. I'm not sure why they are this bad.
