  1. Yeah but there are plenty of holes on this team, so they could use that 3.5 million to sign players who will actually be guaranteed to play football this year. If you have addressed all you've wanted to address in FA and still have some cap space, I'm all for it. But if this prevents us from picking up someone like Mario Williams, its a horrible move. It's an overreaction based on last year. I do really like Campbell though.
  2. Sad there's no comments about this. This was the 2nd best move the Bears made today.
  3. Holy crap, the Bucks just dealt for Monta Ellis and traded Andrew "I'm injured" Bogut in the deal. Still only sources reporting. Trade deadline is alive and well!
  4. Was he washing his truck? Nah, he tripped over a bag.
  5. The Hawks are the 6 seed and are 5 points ahead of Phoenix at 7 but 5 points behind Nashville for the 5 seed. This actually isnt too bad because the Hawks would be matched up with the Pacific winner in the first round (right now Dallas is the most likely, 4 points up on Phoenix, 5 points up on San Jose, 6 up on LA). Dallas currently has just 83 points, 4 less than the Hawks, so they are clearly a beatable team. The 4 seed and home ice would be really tough (7 points behind Detroit with 11 to play and Det has 2 games in hand), so its looking like the best thing for the Hawks is to stay in that 6 seed. If we went to 5, we'd be playing Detroit or Nashville. If we dropped to 7, we'd be playing Vancouver. We'll have a tough time beating those teams but would probably be favored against Dallas even without home ice.
  6. Yay Hawks win. Nice to get 2 points from the Blues. 5 out of 6 points from the Rangers, Kings and Blues albeit all at home. Can't believe that Crawford saved the day.
  7. See yeah, 3.5 million is way too much for someone who could very well not see the field this year. They basically spent 15% of their available cap space on an insurance policy.
  8. Crap, the Hawks had 3-4 GREAT opportunities to score in the last minute of OT but couldnt. Now we are going to the 2nd consecutive crap shoot. Hopefully fortune favors us tonight.
  9. KC Johnson has been tweeting this evening that Derrick Rose has some sort of injury (not sure what type). This is unrelated to the car accident and Thibs said he expects Rose to play tomorrow, but KC apparently observed him limping coming out of the Bulls film session. Just what the season needs, another lingering Rose injury.
  10. We complained quite a bit the last 2 years about lackluster effort by the Hawks. Can't do that tonight though. I think they definitely were motivated to get back at the Blues for such a brutal thrashing last week.
  11. Would be funny if Iona somehow made a run this year and it would be the 2nd straight year that the team everyone criticized for making the tournament shut everyone up and made a run.
  12. No comments about this game? It's one of the more entertaining 3rd periods I've seen in awhile with the Hawks and Blues skating up and down the ice. Hawks are 3 mins from getting at least a point from a team that destroyed us last week and had their way with us in the 1st period as well.
  13. I cheer for Michigan and I laughed the first time I saw this a couple years ago.
  14. Which makes sense because a) Williams is younger than Peppers is (although Peppers is better) and b) You have to overpay to get FAs to come to Buffalo.
  15. I can't think of a better person to say this. He's certainly not Captain Understanding Sarcasm
  16. Nope they get to post in the NIT CBI offseason college basketball thread.
  17. It's not even close. I know...Detroit fans must be jealous that they have the 2nd best WR in the division now.
  18. 2011 bears, colts, eagles?, chiefs? Could probably add the Texans in there. Granted they still stumbled into the post-season, but with Schaub they could have made a deep run of it. Right but they were using their 3rd string QB because their starter and backup went down. There was not much of an opportunity for their backup to prove he could keep the Texans going strong. If you lose your starter and backup, well that's just unfortunate and no one would ever consider making sure you have a good 3rd string.
  19. 2011 bears, colts, eagles?, chiefs? Colts were heading downwards and getting worse every year, but I guess I'll give you that. The Eagles season didn't get derailed because Vick was hurt, they lost plenty of games with him in there, and Vince Young didn't really have any less success. The Chiefs were mediocre to begin with and were already under .500 when Cassell went down. When Cutler went down the Bears were 7-3 and on fire. People were talking about them as a legit contender. That changed the whole season. But that just doesn't happen too often where a star QB goes down midway through a contender's season and the backup QB isn't good enough to keep them going. All I'm saying is that its not worth investing resources that should go to other positions that actually make an impact every week. I'd personally rather draft a QB somewhere later in the draft and resign McNown, but again I don't mind Campbell at all, he's pretty good for a backup.
  20. I like Jason Campbell but I do worry that the Bears apparently made that a high priority. What percent of promising NFL seasons are ruined because the backup QB isn't good enough? Maybe 1 out of every 200 across the league? I mean you are making a high priority of a position that if all goes well won't play the entire season. I understand the value of it, and its a nice luxury to have, but that's all it is, a luxury. As long as they don't spend too much time/resources persuing this backup QB, whether it be Campbell or someone else, I guess I'm ok with it.
  21. Rose fined 25K for the aforementioned comments about referees last night. That's .01% of his Adidas contract.
  22. Check a couple posts up. I know...that was originally a post reporting the Campbell visit, then once I saw it already posted I changed it to that before seeing CT posted it. I'm not changing it again, oh well.
  23. From the actual article: More at the link: http://espn.go.com/chicago/nba/story/_/id/7682303/chicago-bulls-working-acquire-pau-gasol-los-angeles-lakers-sources-say
  24. I didnt catch who was saying this, but they said on the Score that rival NFC North GMs have been texting that they are none to happy with this deal.
  25. stop panicing. There's a chance he never does get on that plane to Buffalo. And just because a team doesnt want the player to leave without a contract doesn't mean the player can't leave if he wants to. When UMFan tells you to stop panicking, you've reached a new level of overreaction. I wonder how this move affects the Bears power ranking numbers.
