  1. I think it could almost be done with the Forte negotiations in mind. Hey Matt we are not afraid to replace you. Look here's Michael Bush. Not that Bush is in Forte's caliber, but him and a 1st or 2nd round rookie RB would work for many teams.
  2. I think people (SSR) would laugh if they saw these trade offers. There is no way Sessions Boozer and the Bobcats pick is enough for Gasol. I don't even think Devin Harris is enough. If they are going to trade their event asset they're going to want a star back not an average NBA point guard and an undersized PF who has lost a step and converted from a low post player to a jump shooter and is among the worst defenders in the NBA.
  3. For those that latch on to baseless internet rumors from random message board posters, there is lots of stuff floating around on RealGM rightn now condensed into this thread: http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=1168262&sid=e6608359dccd25ef13cc76876031adb6 Preview: Pau is pushing for a trade to Chicago, Bulls talking with Utah about trading players to them for Devin Harris who is added with Boozer and the Bobcats pick for a trade to LA for Gasol. The chances of any of this being true is maybe 5% but oh well, what else are you going to talk about today? Oh yeah that game against the Heat tonight. Well talk about this too!
  4. Black eye? Freudian slip from a poster on this site a year or two ago. Carlos Zambrano was going to give Milton Bradley a black guy. I wonder if Milty ever received him.
  5. Yep. They brought him in and then declined to sign him. He started just 1 game last year (played in 8) for Atlanta. Of course there's another reason he means something to the bears that I won't bring up.
  6. You know what I hate? When I am attending a local function and a random fight breaks out causing me to flee as quickly as possible. But not quickly enough to prevent my wife from randomly getting hit in the face with a bee- I mean beverage container. Of course after that occurs I calmly take the wife to the hospital and then return to the scene to ID the hooligans and assist the police in any way I can.
  7. See yeah, 3.5 million is way too much for someone who could very well not see the field this year. They basically spent 15% of their available cap space on an insurance policy. If they had this insurance policy last year, they get into the playoffs, with Cutler coming back. Right it's a reactive move. If you are walking down the street and get struck by lightning, do you wrap yourself in rubber everywhere you go for the rest of your life? You only have a certain amount of money you are allowed to spend in the NFL and its up to the GM to determine how likely something like that will happen again. Based on recent NFL history it's highly unlikely that Cutler is going to miss 6 games with a random injury and his backup is going to be pathetically bad. Heck if we started McCowb from the start we could have easily won the Broncos and Chiefs game putting us in the playoffs (I think). You don't need a 3.5 million backup QB when there are glaring holes that need to be addressed with available FA money.
  8. It was literally the post right above yours I used to mock people for that type of cluelessness but I now realize that almost everyone has a moment where they blatantly miss a discussion about what you are posting about. Doesn't make me feel any better though. My bad.
  9. Great, he caught Rip Hamilton disease. Could be ugly with Rose, Deng, Rip and CJ out against the Heat. The way the Bulls seem to operate "in doubt" = definitely out. BTW, in a probably related move, Mike James was signed for the 3rd time this year today.
  10. and the Bears too
  11. It's hard to complain about seeding when you're in the NIT, but yeah it's [expletive]. I was going to say that seeding is almost irrelevant in the NIT as better teams are constantly seeded lower to reduce travel and create better matchups, but it looks as those NU is going to have to play at Washington this weekend.
  12. Great night of hoops...both games featured improbably comebacks. Feel bad for Iona if they lose this.
  13. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/13/report-mario-williams-leaving-buffalo-without-signing-will-visit-others/ Hah, told you he wouldnt sign tonight. Don't like reading that he'll be the highest paid defensive player in NFL history though. I think that will knock the Bears out of this if they haven't been already.
  14. Yeah but there are plenty of holes on this team, so they could use that 3.5 million to sign players who will actually be guaranteed to play football this year. If you have addressed all you've wanted to address in FA and still have some cap space, I'm all for it. But if this prevents us from picking up someone like Mario Williams, its a horrible move. It's an overreaction based on last year. I do really like Campbell though.
  15. Sad there's no comments about this. This was the 2nd best move the Bears made today.
  16. Holy crap, the Bucks just dealt for Monta Ellis and traded Andrew "I'm injured" Bogut in the deal. Still only sources reporting. Trade deadline is alive and well!
  17. Was he washing his truck? Nah, he tripped over a bag.
  18. The Hawks are the 6 seed and are 5 points ahead of Phoenix at 7 but 5 points behind Nashville for the 5 seed. This actually isnt too bad because the Hawks would be matched up with the Pacific winner in the first round (right now Dallas is the most likely, 4 points up on Phoenix, 5 points up on San Jose, 6 up on LA). Dallas currently has just 83 points, 4 less than the Hawks, so they are clearly a beatable team. The 4 seed and home ice would be really tough (7 points behind Detroit with 11 to play and Det has 2 games in hand), so its looking like the best thing for the Hawks is to stay in that 6 seed. If we went to 5, we'd be playing Detroit or Nashville. If we dropped to 7, we'd be playing Vancouver. We'll have a tough time beating those teams but would probably be favored against Dallas even without home ice.
  19. Yay Hawks win. Nice to get 2 points from the Blues. 5 out of 6 points from the Rangers, Kings and Blues albeit all at home. Can't believe that Crawford saved the day.
  20. See yeah, 3.5 million is way too much for someone who could very well not see the field this year. They basically spent 15% of their available cap space on an insurance policy.
  21. Crap, the Hawks had 3-4 GREAT opportunities to score in the last minute of OT but couldnt. Now we are going to the 2nd consecutive crap shoot. Hopefully fortune favors us tonight.
  22. KC Johnson has been tweeting this evening that Derrick Rose has some sort of injury (not sure what type). This is unrelated to the car accident and Thibs said he expects Rose to play tomorrow, but KC apparently observed him limping coming out of the Bulls film session. Just what the season needs, another lingering Rose injury.
  23. We complained quite a bit the last 2 years about lackluster effort by the Hawks. Can't do that tonight though. I think they definitely were motivated to get back at the Blues for such a brutal thrashing last week.
  24. Would be funny if Iona somehow made a run this year and it would be the 2nd straight year that the team everyone criticized for making the tournament shut everyone up and made a run.
  25. No comments about this game? It's one of the more entertaining 3rd periods I've seen in awhile with the Hawks and Blues skating up and down the ice. Hawks are 3 mins from getting at least a point from a team that destroyed us last week and had their way with us in the 1st period as well.
