  1. I actually agree with your negativity for once. I am worried about the D-Line. As good as this team appears, they have major question marks on the offensive and defensive lines, which I tend to believe are the two most important position groups on a football team besides QB.
  2. Just for fun... 2005 Cubs on active roster: 0 2006 Cubs on active roster: 1 (Marmol) 2007 Cubs on active roster: 2 (Marmol, Soriano) 2008 Cubs on active roster: 3 (Marmol, Shark, Soriano) 2009 Cubs on active roster: 4 (same 3 plus Jeff Baker) 2010 Cubs on active roster: 9 (same 4 plus Castro, Castillo, Barney, Coleman, Russell) 2011 Cubs on active roster: 14 (too lazy)
  3. Well there goes a 7th round pick we'll never see again! Man...that could've turned into something amazing too.... The next J'Marcus Webb
  4. Again, as I've learned today Mayo sucks, but he's the only one showing some semblance of updating the Cubs prospect ratings so, I noticed he had Vizcaino 3rd and Villanueva 6th in the Cubs org. This doesn't include 2012 draftees though, and strangely still has Jackson at number 1 ahead of Baez.
  5. Has Casey Coleman ever had a good start? Him and Volstad are 2 of the worst emergency starters I've seen in some time. Even most mediocre to poor starters throw a good game once in awhile.
  6. Dudes still breathing at least.
  7. Yeah who wants the opportunity to represent their country in the stupid Olympics? Great Britain is getting embarrased in these games, and Deng is going to miss signficant time because I don't see how he can't have the surgery at this point, so who's really won here? GB lost by 6 today to a pretty good Brazil team despite their best player shooting 3-13. I wouldn't call that embarassing. Their first game was though.
  8. Are you implying TJS has no bearing on a prospects value? Nope, just that assuming he gets healthy (which is a fairly safe bet given recent TJS success rates), he will likely still be ahead of Delgado. If he's not, its probably because of durability and/or being a little older for the league he's in due to the injury. He will still likely have the stuff and the makeup to make him a better prospect than Delgado.
  9. we may have gotten nothing good for maholm/johnson if dempster went to atlanta. it still sucks because delgado is clearly the best of the bunch, but this seems like a decent haul. I could care less about the pieces maholm/johnson got us, the big catch in this was Delgado. I'm for quality over quanitity. You do know that Vizcaino was rated in front of Delgado before this season, right? He's not anymore. Again, I don't mind these trades and trust Theo and Jed, but I still have a letdown of no Delgado. Plus I'm sure there was another landing spot for Maholm other than Atlanta. Right, but not because of poor performance or a lessened ceiling on Vizcaino's part.
  10. Does Mayo update his top 20 team lists regularly? I ask because he's already added Vizcaino to his rankings (at #3), but I'm perplexed that Brett Jackson is still his #1 over Baez.
  11. Neither of them were top 20 guys in the Rangers organization in the preseason according to Mayo.
  12. Pretty sure the handbook comes out in February. BA might not, but the beat guys routinely speculate how a team's system has risen or fallen whenever they take on meaningful prospects. Check the Twitterverse, or maybe ESPN/BA chat sessions, but obviously they won't be official until February.
  13. I guess if we weren't going to be able to get another crack at a legit prospect like Delgado, getting a couple of lower minor's players isnt bad. In this case we can get players that might not crack a team's top 10 but have projectable upside, particularly something that Theo/Jed sees from them that gives them a better chance of evolving into something useful.
  14. Remember Bill Barnwell? When we last saw him, he was predicting that the Bears would be one of the worst teams in football last year in the preseason. Although he won his Bears UNDER 8.5 wins bet, it was pure luck that took injuries to their top 2 offensive players. This year he is betting Bears UNDER 8.5 wins on Grantland, but at least he's admitted he's the least sure about this pick than any other he's made.
  15. David Kaplan obviously has influence at MLBN.
  16. Isn't he pretty much the only real player on that team though? Well yeah he's gonna be the primary shot taker I guess. Although in today's game he was 3rd on the team in FGA and points scored. 4-8 from the FT line too
  17. Deng has now shot 11-40 in his first 2 Olympic games. Yeah he totally doesn't need that wrist surgery.

  19. I think he means he didn't throw well at the side session, and Dempster lives in Scottsdale, so its possible he is the pitcher the DBacks are in discussions with the Cubs, as he would probably waive his 10-5 to go there.

  22. I couldnt remember if Isiah Thomas was the coach of FIU or Central Florida, and was very disappointed to learn he wasn't involved in any of this.
  23. LOL Typical Aramis fan. A relic from the much hated Game Threads of the past.
