  1. OK but what does that have to do with last weeks preseaon game against the Giants?
  2. It's not overreacting to me, its a silly statement. Of course if they play like garbage, they won't make the playoffs and Lovie will be gone. But there is an indirect implication in your statement that the Bears preseason performance has something to do with their regular season performance. If there wasn't that implication, you are just making statements like "look at that bartender serving alcohol. If he serves alcohol like that to 10 year olds, he will go to jail" There is too much proof of preseason performance (yes even when the first teams are out there, and even when you are evaluating individual position groups like the o-line) having no relation to regular season performance for me to really look too deeply into these things.
  3. If the 2008 Lions played like they did in the preseason, they'd have gone 16-0 instead of 0-16.
  4. There was a website that told you how many wins to expect based on lineup order (or something along those lines), but I don't remember what it was. I think I remember reading a long time ago that the batting order has a surprisingly small effect on run production over the course of a season. I read that so long ago (and I know it was discussed on this board quite a bit 2004ish) that I could have gotten the facts wrong.
  5. I might be the only person who never cared for Scalabrine that much. The whole glorification of the awkward white player/victory cigar was ripped off directly from Boston and IMO was dumb to begin with. Just my (rather unpopular) opinion.
  6. Are these yours? I've got Michigan State over Wisconsin and OSU going 8-4 and PSU going 5-7. I think Purdue will make a bowl game and Indiana will win at least 1 conference game. I also think the Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska triangle will go similar to last year except Michigan will beat MSU and lose to Nebraska and MSU will beat Nebraska.
  7. Only 6 more home night games this season, the next 3 days and Sept 17-19 against the Pirates and Reds. I wish all the games (except Sundays) were night games
  8. I think Theo and Beane were just bored and made the trade to amuse themselves.
  9. Can we talk about a B prospect being called a TOR arm? Sorry man, you should read a bit or watch the guy. You're just really wrong here. 100 MPH, damn good changeup. If he commands his slider even somewhat, he's got ace potential. And it's not even disputable honestly. He has one of the absolute best arms in baseball. The potential is definitely there to be TOR. He's been busy making the best twitter account ever, cut him some slack man. Isn't that imb! Or are you referring to another twitter account?
  10. Javier, you can go ahead and start dominating whenever you want. I'm giving you permission.
  11. Welp, time to waste another top 4 pick on a safety next year.
  12. He didn't have much trouble in his first Dodger AB
  13. 12 walks on the year. 5.7% rate. Yeah whoops, not sure how i came up with 5
  14. Rizzo has 2 walks in his last 13 games and 5 overall this season, and has 1 XBH in his last 14 games. C'mon dude finish the season strong. Edit: 4 pitch inning
  15. Vitters should go back down to Iowa and finish their season there before coming back up. He's obviously not major league ready yet and this is killing the the really positive momentum he had this season.
  16. I know most of these guys have seen better days but it's amazing that the Dodgers managed to get Hanley Ramirez, Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford and Josh Beckett during the trading season. If this was 2010, we're talking 4 perennial all stars.
  17. I get jokes ( )
  18. Jeez, wtf is with all these drops? I think I counted 4 drops on this drive alone. Granted some of Campbells passes have been inaccurate but they are still catchable.
  19. On SOSH, they are hearing that the Dodgers will pick up 96% of the salary coming from Boston. I definitely think this is a good trade for the Red Sox, but I'm surprised the Sox fans aren't more upset about losing AGonz after all the fanfare his arrival brought 2 years ago. I know he's underperformed a bit but the dude is still a great hitter and young enough (well..he's 30) to be a contributor 2-3 years down the road.
  20. Who the hell takes the third preseason game like it's [expletive]? I give up, what's being censored here? Yes, the third preseason game is the one where the starters play the most. It's the closest thing to counting they have in the preseason. Is that what he's trying to say? lol, no ones adjusting their expectations based on a preseason game, but poor play is poor play and can be discussed without losing the perspective of what this game ultimately means. And what Careless said.
  21. That should be a good enough drive to get the 1st teamers out there on both sides of the ball.
  22. Who the hell takes the third preseason game like it's [expletive]? ?
  23. I was getting excited that Forte was finally getting some yards on the ground until I realized it was the Giants 2nd team defense. Oh well better than nothing.
  24. So the 3rd preseason game is the one thats supposed to be most like regular season game conditions? I couldnt watch the first half, was the play as bad as the stats make it look? I hate the Gaints, they have our number, even in fake games. How long do you think the 1st teams will be out there in the 2nd half, given that they've apparently looked so mediocre so far? IIRC, usually they go 1, maybe 2, series in the 2nd half.
