I was just thinking about how in recent Chicago sports, things have a way of going from extreme high point to extreme low in the span of one game or one moment lately. Examples: -Bears start out 3-0 including wins at Dallas and against everyone's favorites the Packers on MNF, team is riding high and then the next game they play the Giants, who completely embarass the Bears offensive line, knock Cutler out of the game after sacking him 9 times, hold the Bears to 3 points in a dominating win. Fans go from feeling very good about the Bears to 'wtf' -Bears win 5 straight in increasingly impressive fashion last year, improving to 7-3 and everyone is starting to consider the Bears a sleeper in team in the NFC. Minutes after the most recent win, its revealed Cutler broke his thumb, season over. Bears go 1-5 and miss the playoffs -Bulls perservere through a tough, injury filled year but impressively still finish with the best record in the NBA, everyone is finally healthy for the playoffs, everyone is high on the Bulls, Rose is back and looks really good as the Bulls dismantle the 76ers. Bulls fans start anticipating a championship run and....Derrick Rose destroys his knee and it changes the fate of multiple seasons. Big high to big low Now this. Not to say that the season is over or that the Bears cant recover from a week 2 poor performance. It's just strange how many times I've had to shift from an emotional high to a crushing low. They don't lose in a way that makes you say 'we just need to do a couple things better and we'll be ok'. We go from 'we have a big boy offense, we can be the team to beat in this division' to 'tice sucks, o-line sucks, fire lovie, wtf marshall, i hate everything' over the span of 60 minutes. (Honorable mentions: 1) Bears crush Falcons in week 1 and everyone talks about how the Bears are legit team and a contender, then have a similar but smaller Giants game-like breakdown in NO and get beaten soundly, but the Bears obviously recovered 2) Bulls blowout the Heat in game 1 of the ECF and fans start to realistically think the Bulls can win the title this year, then lose 4 straight to end the season, but that was more like a slow painful crushing)
