  1. Yeah, but that's not "meh." That's more like, "crap we really aren't good." We're probably a .500 team without Rose, or at least I hope we are. i'll leave it up for you to decide whether that's mediocre or 'not very good'. It's annoyingly difficult to get interested at all in this season knowing the expectations have gone from a championship to 'hope we can get to the 2nd round when Rose gets back"
  2. I feel like analysts and announcers usually pounce all over stuff like this and talk about it often. I've never heard anyone talk about this stat other than people on message boards.
  3. Weird...thats the same thing he said last week. Guess a 31 point drubbing didn't affect his views. Well than what about the Bears having the best point differential in the lead? How about 5 of the Bears 7 wins being by 16 points or more (most in the NFL)? Simmons is just like any other analyst in that he stereotypes NFL teams, and those stereotypes are likely influenced by one or two particular games. For whatever reason the Lions and Panthers games have stuck in his head and have now defined the Bears in his mind. I understand that its nearly impossible for someone to have their finger on the pulse of all 32 teams at once, but at least do a little research before you go on the air. Maybe Barnwell can tell him whats up since Bill seems to get most of his NFL insights from him.
  4. Hub also picked the Chiefs to be in the Super Bowl and also indicated he wouldn't have been shocked to see the Titans win in his own smug way Yeah...I used to kinda like Hub just because he had a direct no-bias (at least when discussing teams other than the Bears) kind of style, and he at least sounded smarter than a lot of the other guys out there, but overtime I've come to realize he's kind of an idiot. That's not to say he doesn't have some good insights from time to time but as far analyzing the NFL he's poking at holes like the rest of them. And then there's his own anti-Bears bias, which either comes from his former associations with the team or his desire to rile the meathead fans by saying something unpopular. Whatever the reason, it grows tired and makes him look dumb more often than it makes him look smart. Also, I've noticed B&B always like to bring up his Chiefs Super Bowl pick, and Hub always gets really defensive. Up until about a week or two ago he'd say something like "well we'll see, they still have time to get it going"
  5. I know, that pissed me off because almost every Bears game article is considered premium. Between them and the DH, are they begging everyone to only visit the Sun Times website?
  6. Has anyone else mentioned that the Bears have the best point differential in the NFL currently by a wide margin? Current top 5 teams in point differential (all teams have played 8 games): BEARS: +116 Texans: +100 Patriots: +92 49ers: +86 Falcons: +77
  7. Nothing against Northwestern, but how the heck are they ranked? Who is their best win this year? Here are all of them: @ Syracuse (4-5), Vanderbilt (5-4), Boston College (2-7), South Dakota (1-8 in 1-AA), Indiana (4-5), @ Minnesota (5-4), Iowa (4-5).
  8. Marshall is now at 60 catches for 798 yards and 7 TDs. I think someone else a page or two back posted his projected stats (which is just double everything at this point) but needless to say, Marshall is on pace to become the Bears single season leader in all 3 categories. Here is what he needs to do in the last 8 games Receptions: Currently: 60 catches Pace: 120 Record: 100 (Marty Booker - 2001) Needs: 41 to break Average: 5.1 catches per game Yards: Currently: 798 yards Pace: 1,596 Record: 1,400 (Marcus Robinson - 1999) Needs: 603 yards to break Average: 75.4 yards per game Touchdowns: Currently: 7 touchdowns Pace: 14 Record: 13 (Dick Gordon - 1970/Ken Kavanaugh - 1947) Needs: 7 touchdowns to break Average: 0.9 touchdowns per game
  9. I figured the Texans might be a slight favorite, but I guess the Bears come out on top with the home game bump.
  10. Amazing that the Bears can go 3-5 the rest of the year and still have a fantastic shot at the playoffs. If they go 4-4 the rest of the year, only 2 teams in NFL history havent made the playoffs with what their record would be. Sportsclubstats.com has the Bears playoff odds at 98.8% after today's win, which includes all the 4PM games except TB vs. Oak.
  11. Negative offensive DVOA might be "troubling" but the Bears havent finished with a positive offensive DVOA since 1995. I'm not sure you can compare DVOA numbers from year to year (isn't the number relative to the other teams in the league) but a -12.5 DVOA rating before todays game would be third best for the Bears since 2001 (only 2006 and 2008 were better). I'm guessing it will be a little bit higher after today, despite the good numbers coming against a poor defense.
  12. Yeah....I think it's going to be up to Tice to create a solid "we're getting blown up and cutler has no time to throw" game plan to turn to when we get blown up and cutler has no time to throw.
  13. This isnt actually all that strange but this is the first game in NFL history to end 51-20
  14. This team could have easily scored 60 today too considering the fumble turnover by Cutler late in the 1st when the Bears were at the 15 yard line or so, and then of course the 4th and goal inside the 10 on that last possession in the 4th when they decided to run out the clock instead of running up the score.
  15. taking a look at Cutler in his postgame PC, this mustache thing is going to provide even more unintentional comedy than I originally thought.

  17. I still see 4-2 in those 6 games. Split the next 2, beat Minny and Seattle at home, split the @Minny and GB stretch
  18. 96.47 Yes but he's still way too moody in those games to be successful.
  19. Fox seems to think we are a lock to blow our 31 point lead and lose this game as theyve already chalked up a loss for us in this one.
  20. Boo....51-12 looked a lot sexier than 51-20
  21. Maybe we can give Mike Tice another promotion.
  22. Wonderful clock management LSU This game was a lot more entertaining than last year's game (both of them)
  23. Meh...some nights we're just not going to be able to come up with enough offense to win. The last couple of years we could survive poor shooting nights but that's not always going to be the case this year. Also, due to the lack of depth compared to last year, its gonna be harder to win the 2nd of back to backs.
  24. Nevermind, the kicker choked. wow...what a game.
