    Damn Michigan is fun to watch. As someone who started following UM hoops in 1998 (their last tourney appearance for 11 years), and waited through a decade of either terrible seasons or painful bubble bursting finishes (2004 NIT champs!), this is really rewarding. I also think Trey Burke has replaced Louis Bullock as my favorite UM player since I started watching them.

    Insane to complain about a coach who can adapt to the pieces he is given. Especially given the fact that we will still probably have a bad offensive line next year and the fact that the Bears are 1-6 without Cutler the last 2 seasons.

    I don't know of any other FAs out there looking for Jackson money that would fit with us. It would be hard to take those quotes as anything other than Bourn. Edit: Also, thanks for sharing

    Yeah, that's he had so much success with such varied QB's is really impressive. He's definitely my #1. To illustrate how different the offense was over the 3 years... 2012 (Manning): Total Yards - 4th Passing Yards - 5th Rushing Yards - 16th 2011 (Orton/Mostly Tebow) Total Yards - 23rd Passing Yards - 31st Rushing Yards - 1st 2010 (Orton mostly) Total Yards - 13th Passing Yards - 7th Rushing Yards - 26th He turned the 26th ranked rushing offense into the best rushing offense when given a QB with a limited arm, and then back into a top passing offense the next year.

    I like the idea of Bruce Arians mainly because he won a Super Bowl as the OC with a poor offensive line. The stuff he did this year was nice too.

    Constable, want to give me a scouting report on NW so far this year? I am going to the game tonight...seems like they are a step down from last year, but I've learned to never feel comfortable with a road game in the B1G.

    the "wow" suggests that you're surprised. I didnt realize it was that bad. There have been some pretty consistently awful offensive teams out there since 2004. I would have guessed they would have been somewhere in the 24-28 range.

    Feeling a bond with someone that roots for the same school as you is fine, but feeling a bond with someone because they root for a school that has been arbitrarily grouped with yours just makes no sense to me. I think it has to do with the geographical area we share. Go anywhere in the midwest and they are watching Big Ten football on Saturdays. People are very provincial in this part of the country and cling to guns and religion what's familiar to them. Of course I might have a different experience living in Chicago which is a melting pot of Big Ten graduates.

    Lovie Smith would be such a Bills hire. I'm not saying its necessarily a bad fit, its just a boring vanilla coach joining a boring vanilla team. Edit: I wonder if any interviews he has are half-legit option and half Rooney rule.

    It's just an extension of Southern regionalism. I don't really feel that way for the most part. Other SEC teams losing could give my team a bump in a particular recruiting battle or something like that. Has nothing to do with the South. Might be prevalent there too but folks in the Midwest love the big ten. My older family are all Iowa fans but they pull for all big ten teams. Same with many of my friends and several posters here have expressed this sentiment. It's true, this is Big Ten country and most fans of Big Ten schools feel a bond with the other schools, even the ones we hate. Not sure how that will change with Maryland and Rutgers through. However, I don't root for Ohio State or Michigan State under any circumstances. I do kind of pull for Northwestern and Illinois except when they play Michigan, and the other Big Ten schools I'll root for under certain circumstances (like the NCAA Tourney if they haven't particularly annoyed me during conference play)

    Kind of crazy that NW was 2 terribly blown 4th quarter leads at Happy Valley and Nebraska and an OT loss at Michigan from an undefeated season. They really should have won all 3 of those games.

    Wow didn't realize that the Bears are 31st in total offensive yards since Lovie took over in 2004.

    Oh well. Quite a disappointing year 2 for Hoke. Only major positives are (barely) beating MSU and beating NW. Would have really liked to have won at least 1 of the close losses to ND, Ohio St. or SC. Still quite high on the direction of the program and pleased at the performance today.

    Urlacher hated playing cover-2 LB in his career, maybe he feels his career can get a second wind by going into a system that asks him to do other things. like a 3-4?
