Just announced on FOX. They havent announced the NL Reserve position players yet, but I'm assuming he is the Cubs lone all star, unless Bryan LaHair is available to be selected. Travis Wood: 5-6, 2.69 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, 110.1 IP, 80K, 33 BB, 3.51 FIP, 4.37 xFIP

Travis Wood named an All Star

Here's every Blackhawks goal in the playoffs this year: My favorite non-game winner was Handzus stare down goal to tie Game 6 against Detroit or possibly Oduya's game tying goal in Game 1 against Boston.

    Go Cubs

Knew this would happen. By the way, errbody, Dwight is a diva, annoying, overrated etc, but he just took less money to go to a better team, have a better chance at a title and didn't draw it out longer than he said he would. Worth mentioning. Meh were talking 1.6 million less per year and of course one less year on his deal. He should easily make back the 1.6 mil based on no state income taxes in Texas. And he will be I think 31 when the contract is up and should be able to make 20+ mil a year on his next deal if he hasn't broken down and/or continued on his downward trajectory.

    The Bulin wall is back!!?!!

[expletive] do i hate you Howard
  9. UMFan83
I think Howard is my least favorite player in the NBA by a decent margin but at least he fucked over the Lakers.

Damn nice payday Kyle. Would have loved to have lured him back to the Bulls but not at anywhere near that amount. 2/6 for Dunleavy is much more preferable.

Hawks resign Leddy to a 2 year deal, details undisclosed

    Interesting.

Weird because one year they got to the ECF, the next year their superstar tore his acl in the first game and last year we made it to the second round despite injuries to Deng and Hinrich. Not sure where we being tired comes into play. I guess you could make an argument that we could have beaten Miami in the ECF but that's a stretch to say we lost because we were worn out.

There just seems to be a lack of buzz surrounding baseball compared to 1998-2005. Some of it can be attributed to decreased scoring and maybe the PED scandal I guess. Even teams like the Yankees (who are admittedly a boring mediocre bunch this year) and Red Sox don't seem to be getting a lot of buzz.
  15. UMFan83
Oh boy. Hopefully he still believes it was Flintstones vitamins that made him great.
  16. UMFan83
Yeah, but no one was complaining when he was traded. If I remember correctly, Donaldson was the youngest in a glut of catching prospects we had in the farm at the time of the trade. Oh well, it happens sometimes. I would do that trade any day of the week given where we were at the time. Harden was a great acquisition even though it didn't work out for the Cubs that year.

All I remember about playing Oakland in the past is the famous Todd Walker "safe slide"
  18. UMFan83
Yeah I like Emery but he seems like a luxury. Hope we didn't make any of Sundays moves in order to necessitate keeping him. I guess that goalie they signed isn't ready yet?
  19. UMFan83
So he's saying that Gar/Thibs relationship is horrible, or Gar/Adams? No wonder the Thibs resigning took so long, and he took forever to actually sign the deal. It's tough...I know on one hand the Bulls were up against the luxury tax, but I know the Bulls also purposely signed Kirk to a contract that caused them to have hard cap in place that limited their spending (cant remember how or why that was the case, some rule in the new CBA).

Solid move on what should be a pretty cheap deal. DJ Augustin was dreadful last year, outside of a few games where his 3 pointers were falling. Just make sure you avoid him and Mahinmi on the court together during crunch time in close games.
  21. UMFan83
Agreed. At least GarPax didn't grab him by the tie and shove him* *that we know of
  22. UMFan83
Definitely happy we kept Bickell, but I'm a bit skeptical that he can produce in the regular season like he did in this year's playoffs. Also was reading a Toronto blog yesterday and one of the guy was posting stats that showed that Bolland was one of the best shutdown forwards in the league. But overall, I definitely understand the move and almost certainly would have done the same as what Bowman had to do.
  23. UMFan83
Yeah but Frolik never played with those guys of course.
  24. UMFan83
    Will miss you Rat http://i924.photobucket.com/albums/ad90/ChicagoNativeSon/BollyExplosion.png

So where are we at cap wise after getting rid of Montador, Olesz, Bolland and Frolik?
