  3. Science. If Sosa never took steroids how many homers do you think he would have ended up with? 927 little known fact: it was the corked bats that limited Sosa to 609 home runs http://forum.goazcats.com/showthread.php?t=69089
  4. Derrick Rose's first regular season game back (maybe? hopefully?) will be in Miami against the Heat as they raise their banner.
  5. Yeah I was gonna say I know I've used water fountains at wrigley before to fill up water bottles. Look near the bathrooms.
  6. God what a dumb poll. Why isn't there an "All of the above" option?
  7. slightly stagnant? I'd go with mostly
  8. Hilarious. I didnt think there was much chance of Tunney losing his position because of this until the last few days. Dude is losing it.
  9. article about the absurdity of the 2001 baseball season. http://blogs.houstonpress.com/hairballs/2013/07/a_statistical_look_back_at_the.php
  10. 0.5 WAR in 5 games.
  11. agreed. also since im waiting to buy tickets, there are plenty of seats now, but I feel like they will sell out quickly if mexico wins.
  12. Just reminds me that soon its going to be the 10 year anniversary of the Cubs last playoff win (Oct 11)
  13. That's odd, its still fairly early in the season. Are the Giants really not going back east the rest of the season? I'm surprised the Reds were ok with this. It is not fairly early in the season. Early enough in the season that it's odd that a team is forced to play a home game at the opponents park, especially when that team is in the division/wild card race.

  15. Awesome that we chose the exact same picture.
  16. Do you realize how that Puig was at like 2 WAR in the month that led to that campaigning? It wasn't undeserved. The point is that it was a month. Guys don't get voted to the All Star game for a great April, which is essentially what would have happened had Puig been voted in. It would have been dumb. I wouldn't have cared and didn't even watch the game, but it would have been dumb. Some do. http://cdn.bleacherreport.net/images_root/slides/photos/001/114/934/115604976_crop_650x440.jpg?1311230070 http://www3.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/Bryan+Lahair+Chicago+Cubs+Photo+Day+JJCgero64gLl.jpg
  17. wtf is this even attempting to mean? Love me some SCS incoherent posting
  18. It's too bad Lake couldn't have come up a month sooner so he could get get strong All Star consideration after less than 100 PAs.
  19. I hope there is at least 1 front line starter in the group. Obviously the system is still hitter heavy in terms of elite talent, but its good to see the pitching side start to close the gap.
  20. Cubs have done a decent job of spreading their top prospects throughout the minors. Most of the elite talent is still in the lower stages, but its getting better. AAA: Lake (currently majors) Olt Vizcaino (when healthy) AA Baez Alcantra A+ Soler Johnson Edwards A Almora Vogelbach AZL Bryant
  21. So the Cubs could hypothetically get up to 9 people on people's Top 100 lists at the end of the season. Some are big stretches (aka Vizcaino) but still Baez, Soler, Almora, Bryant, Alcantra, Olt, Edwards, P. Johnson, Vizcaino. Am I missing anyone? The first 4 are pretty much gimmies, Olt should be on there if he keeps hitting like he has recently, Edwards might be close to the backend if he pitches well in Daytona. Is Johnson on people's radar? Vizcaino probably not if he doesn't pitch at all this year, but who knows.
  22. http://www.minorleagueball.com/2013/7/18/4534646/minor-league-ball-top-75-prospects-mid-season-update #73 That article lost me here
  23. I was always under the impression that the MLB suspends players for a lump-sum amount of games (punishment fits the crime) like when Manny Ramirez was suspended for 100 games... If Manny got 100, why does Braun only get 63? And I assumed teams were the only ones that suspended for the remainder of the season like when the Cubs suspended Milton Bradley. I think the MLB and players union worked with an arbitrator to determine the suspensions.
  24. Just looking at the numbers it looks like Olt can take a walk at least. That alone gives me more confidence in his ability than Vitters.
  25. Rob Manfred, pretty much Selig's right hand man I believe. Are you kidding me?
