  1. With McGary out, I could see 7 to 9 B1G wins for Michigan, but maybe they will surprise, Morgan and Horford will step up and play better. The conference looks really good again this year so it will be tough.
  2. Cutler was on his final show today. Didn't say anything newsworthy just reinterated his desire to stay in Chicago, when asked about hometown discount he said something to the effect of "obviously when someone leaves their team in FA they usually are offered more to leave" and said he would be disappointed if there wasn't a contract in place by the start of the new league year.
  3. He was also Peter King's offensive player of the week this week lolz
  4. Interesting take from Yahoo: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/pitch-counts-are-a-real-concern-when-it-comes-to-sensation-masahiro-tanaka-055941978.html
  5. Gold. My favorite:
  6. This makes the most sense, and is also entirely avoidable. I'm not sure if they checked out of one coverage and into another on the 4th and 8, but they were also late to adjust on another important play earlier in the game. On that one, Corey Wootten was still in his stance a good full second after Rodgers received the ball. Was that the one where the LBs were all hitting their helmets indicating coverage changes and out of position when the ball was snapped? I think that was a 3rd down and luckily Rodgers overthrew his guy in the end zone.
  7. Yeah, he's in complete denial that Cutler could be gone. Or he knows things. Marshall also predicted in the week before it was announced that Cutler would play in the Detroit game. I think he also predicted he'd be back for the Dallas game.
  8. Some notes from Biggs article:
  9. Good but brutal look at the 48 yard TD that ended the Bears season by Barnwell: First this note: One final note:
  10. Did they announce he's not coming back or something?
  11. I also wondered if Briggs might be done here. I don't think he's been happy without Brian and Lovie here. I've read where he's avoided interviews the last couple of weeks and has generally been unhappy. Thought that might just be because he's playing in a crummy defense. Getting some good players around him might improve his mood. He's always unhappy about something....his contract, crashing his new Lamborghini, etc. He always plays through it and plays fine. I don't take anything out of his performance the last 2 weeks. I think you definitely bring him back for some stability and because he's still young enough to resume being a pro bowl caliber LB.
  12. Not a bad offseason plan: http://www.chicitysports.com/2013/12/30/the-healing-mock-offseason/
  13. Hub the other day was saying it was possible to sign Jay long term and structure the contract so its only like a $13-14m cap hit the first few years. If that's the case, that's only like $4 mil more than last year, it might make sense to lock up the position for the next few years and then re-evaluate when the cap hit goes up. I don't see any reason why the Bears wouldn't be sold on Cutler being an above average QB for the next several years....he's done more than enough to prove that IMO. The only area where there is doubt for the Bears FO is whether they can get the same or similar production at a much lower cost. It's a huge gamble to put the QB position into doubt when there are so many questions on defense.
  14. Surprised no one is talking about this: Have no idea how reliable the source is though. Although my friend just texted me and said Bears.com posted the story http://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/articles/jay_cutler_and_the_chicago_bears_likely_parting_ways/15417016
  15. Agreed. I don't understand this move at all. The new Browns front office already burned up their first coach after one year. I know they kind of skidded to the finish but there were some bright spots on the team despite constantly having one of 4 different QBs leading the offense, and from what I've read the players liked him and played hard for him. You gotta give your new head coach at least 2 years.
  16. Maybe its unfair to place on Tucker, but there are just several examples of his guys making dumb errors that this is just another example. Bottom line is he 'led' a defense from best in the league to bottom 2 with a lot of the same players playing the same scheme, etc. I was on the 'give him another year with a healthy team' guy until the last 2-3 weeks, but I have a hard time being confident in him leading our defense again next year. Man I wish Marinelli had just stayed with this team. I guess he didn't help Dallas all that much, but some stability is probably what the Bears needed on defense.
  17. 6-2 at home (losses to Saints, and one of Packers or Lions but not both). 2-6 on the road (wins over...umm Jets and one division game?) Obviously this is based on this years team which will change significantly as will the other teams on this list so I just wasted 30 seconds thinking about it and typing out this post.
  18. Jesus Christ. I can barely even think about the Bears since the game ended without wanting to punch something and you've written a novel.
  19. Why do you do an all out blitz on a 4th and 8!?!?!?!?! I was prepared to give Tucker a 2nd chance due to injuries and let him revamp the defense/get his type of players in the offseason, but he should be fired tomorrow morning. Yeah and the team had covered pretty decently all game. Time was on your side. If they convert make a tackle and force them to kick a long-ish FG on your [expletive] ass field. That was such a bad, bad call. Such a bad call. that combined with coaching a team that gives up on a fumble/incomplete pass and walks off the field as its returned for a TD are enough to give him his walking papers.
  20. I feel for Brandon. http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/19axyf4wtht18jpg/ku-xlarge.jpg
  21. well, in fairness, what did Tucker have to lose? everything? As bad as the Bears D is, you have to give them the best chance to win the game. Packers had 5 receivers go out that play, and you rush 7?
  22. Corey Wooten said that the 4th down call was an 'all out blitz'. So basically if we didn't get there, we were going to be screwed, and we didn't and we were. Shocker. Brilliant Tucker
  23. way too much optimism. Lions getting a new coach that might actually allow them to play to their talent Rodgers will return to iron man vikings are good every other year and will contend Also the Lions loss today means the Bears finish 2nd and play the 49ers and Cowboys/Eagles instead of Arizona and the Giants Looks like AFC west and NFC South are out matchups as well, and I could come up with better scenarios in envisioning a 13-3 season. Yeah so Broncos, Chiefs, Chargers, Raiders, Saints, Panthers, Falcons, Bucaneers, 49ers, Cowboys/Eagles, Packers, Packers, Vikings, Vikings, Lions, Lions Premature but that looks like an impossible schedule. Oh well, see you in 9 [expletive] months. NFL offseasons are forever and a day
