  1. Yeah there's a whole laundry list. Missed tackles, players not understanding the play call, terrible routes to ball carriers, absence of pass rush, blown coverages, missed assignments. Knowing is half the battle right?
  2. That's exactly what I was thinking
  3. Mel Tucker will return next year
  4. This is said to be the deepest draft since at least 2003. There are anywhere from 10-12 guys this year who could have gone 1 last year.
  5. I'm on the "I can't stand rooting against my team so I guess I'm anti-tanking" side and even I can see how others could complain about that.
  6. both QBs looked bad in those conditions. If there isn't another windy rainstorm next week he'll play better I'd assume.
  7. Where did he catch that at? The 35? Damn give your team a chance. You didn't need a trick play just yet.
  8. What in the [expletive]?
  9. Lol wow. Still completely improbable but that was crazy.
  10. Wow did that just happen
  11. The book "Entangled in Ivy" is a decent book, but IIRC (its been 4-5 years since I've read it) it does a pretty good job of explaining the Maddux/Cubs situation in 92.
  12. Woo hoo! I hate this time of year until spring training. At least we have the Cubs Convention coming up for a quick reprieve of propoganda. After that come the dog days until those first ST pics. Holy hell, the convention; what the [expletive] is even going to be the big event/unveiling? A jar of change that an intern brought in to donate to the payroll. I'm assuming the Convention is a telethon format this year?
  13. I bet it has nothing to do with FA.
  14. Do we normally do these or just go directly into the next season thread? Bye bye Borges.
  15. Doesn't NSBB have some sort of Cubs press pass? Lets send a rep with a list of questions and rebuttals during the convention for Ricketts. Anyone here have journalism experience? (Other than Bruce Miles) FDB Edit: I guess imb would work too. I'd say Kyle, but he'd probably get our pass revoked
  16. He wasn't nearly as good as McGuire. McGwire had a 5.2 WAR as a skinny rookie. HOF voters that vote for him probably subscribe to the "HOFer without steroids" theory. Sosa was a good, sometimes very good player who suddenly exploded into a superstar for 5-6 year period. Also I think those that vote for McGwire probably took the fact that he basically owned up to his steroid use, while Sosa still refuses to admit he did anything wrong. He lost all credibility to deny cheating when he 1) got caught with a corked bat, 2) explained in extremely broken english that he accidently grabbed a batting practice bat 3) used more extremely broken english to not incriminate himself while being questioned about steroid use in congress and 4) was named in a report as someone who tested positive for steroids. It's a stupid reason why, but I definitely think thats the general thought process. Also, the numbers show McGwire was clearly the superior player, although just looking at the numbers and nothing else they both have HOF worthy numbers.
  17. Sorry, this might be bad to admit as a Cubs fan, but I love Frank Thomas. Glad he made it in.
  18. Where did Jeffery finish? Dunno...it was thrown in the article about their all-pro selections. I don't have access to the full list. IIRC, he was somewhere in the top 15 within the last few weeks of the season. Earl Bennett I believe was higher than Jeffery too. As a whole the Bears got fantastic blocking from their WRs
  19. If for some reason Briggs gets cut in the offseason, they will probably claim they broke the news.
  20. More fun:
  21. Deja Vu. Didn't realise you posted at RealGm too. Not as much as I used to, kind of got sick of the same rehashed arguments for page upon page. But for big events like this its required reading/commenting.
  22. http://i.imgur.com/4vSMWLO.jpg?1 take a good look while you can
  23. Let's hope so. They have finished outside the top 10 once (12th) since 2007 and still suck.
