  1. Nice of Canada to get 2 byes in a row.
  2. He scored a second one too. Interesting to note that both goals were assisted on by Handzus
  3. Marian Hossa finally scored the Blackhawks first goal in the tournament. Unfortunately his team is down 4-1 in the 3rd and facing elimination.
  4. Although on a plus side, Penn State is bad (as usual) so we don't have to hear from that crowd.
  5. Jesus, Nebraska might actually have a decent shot of making the tournament... 14-10, 6-6 now. Remaining schedule: vs. Penn State vs. Purdue at Illinois vs. Northwestern at Indiana vs. Wisconsin They could go 4-2 or 5-1 in that stretch. 4-2 puts them at 18-12 (10-8) with wins over Ohio State, Minnesota, @ Michigan State and potentially vs. Wisconsin, and 7 of their 10 losses being against teams with top 15 RPIs. Their RPI would be in the 40's and SOS in the low 20's. It's possible that with that resume, a single BTT win gets them in. If they go 5-1, they might not even need a tourney win. If they go 5-1 with a win over Wisconsin they definitely won't.
  6. Are you implying because he grew up a Sox fan that loss ate at him on a whole different level?
  7. Should have been happening 3 years ago.
  8. Rough top 100 for the Cubs: http://www.prospectdigest.com/2014/02/16/2014-top-100-prospects/ 14. Bryant 15. Baez 29. Edwards 77. Almora 80. Soler 96. Alcantara
  9. PFF with a breakdown of the Bears starters: https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2014/02/15/projected-lineups-chicago-bears/ Offense: 1 Elite player (Marshall) 2 High quality starters (Forte, Jeffery (elite ceiling)) 3 Solid starters (Cutler, Slauson, M. Bennett (elite ceiling)) 4 Adequate starters (Fiammetta, E. Bennett, Long (solid starter ceiling), Bushrod (solid starter ceiling)) 1 Poor starter (Mills (below average starter ceiling)) 1 Unknown (Taylor Boggs - replacing FA Garza on depth chart) Defense: 2 Solid starters (Jennings, Briggs (high quality ceiling)) 2 Adequate starters (Paea, Peppers (high quality ceiling)) 1 Below average starter (Frey) 3 Poor starters (McClellen, Conte, Bostic (below average ceiling)) 4 Unknowns (CJ Wilson - replacing FA Tillman, Tracey Robertson - replacing FA Melton/Wootten, Khaseem Greene - replacing FA Anderson, Anthony Walters - replacing FA Wright)
  10. We could realistically win a co-championship right now. Still would be very difficult to do and I'm not getting my hopes up for it but still, it's February and I'm considering the possibility that Iowa wins a Big Ten championship and that's awesome. I think it's fairly realistic. You have MSU losing at a neutral site against Georgetown and at home against 1-9 on the road Nebraska. You have UM giving IU one of its only 2 wins in their last 8 and getting blown out against you guys and at home against wisky. I don't think it would be very difficult for Iowa to claim a share of the conference at this point.
  11. The Big Ten is so weird this year. Home losses by Michigan and Michigan State (to NEBRASKA?!) puts Iowa and to a lesser extent Wisconsin back in the Big Ten title race.
  12. That sucks. Maybe we'll get Canada while their still playing mediocre
  13. I was not expecting the rules to be like that in the Olympics. I was hoping Kane would get a shot but instead Oshie kept going (and did well no complaints) I also hate the idea of a shoot out in the prelims. What ever happened to 3 points for a win, 1 for a tie. Ties are perfectly acceptable in hockey, I don't know why we try so hard to eliminate them. At least in the Olympics they are smart enough to make every game worth the same number of points, since they insist on adding OT and SOs
  14. Yeah he was going at full speed. That sucks
  15. Typical Hawks in SO situations :(
  16. Posted this on RealGM to get a reaction: The following teams were willing to "eat" at least $12.8 million to make their teams better: MIL - Gooden 13.4 (2 yr) MIA - Miller 12.8 (2 yr) CHA - Thomas 18.1 (2 yr) PHI - Brand 18.0 DAL - Haywood 27.0 (3 yr) HOU - Scola 19.6 (2 yr) PHO - Childress 21.0 (3 yr) WAS - Blatche 23.0 (3 yr) ORL - Arenas 62.0 (3 yr) NYK - Billups 14.2 CLE - Davis 28.0 (2 yr) BRK - Outlaw 28.0 (4 yr) POR - Roy 63.0 (4 yr) For the record, Boozer makes 16.8 mil next year
  17. I guess I'll repost the other game from that 03 Yankees series that was posted in that thread, too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iP3lEdp8Csw Yeah that was a great video, I spent hours watching it. There's lots of little clips and parts of games in addition to the full games on there.
  18. So the investigation report is out and Incognito is the bad guy again.
  19. Salary relief /poortomricketts
  20. 2 of those teams aren't really very good and the other one was injured when they played them? I don't even care. There are 5 ranked Big Ten teams including UM, UM has played 5 games against the other 4 teams, only 1 of those games at home, and they are 4-1. I'm happy even if the Big Ten isnt as great as expected
  21. How the heck did Michigan win in Madison, East Lansing and Columbus in the same year?
  22. Whats the upside for the Knicks? Snell and Butler are nice pieces, but having Boozer on the books next year means they probably can't add a star for at least another year. Felton has been absolutely terrible this year and is making close to $4 m each of the next two years. Shumpert has been mediocre to poor (I think) this year and is making 4.3 mil split over the next 2 seasons. Melo can still opt out after this season (unless the trade is predicated on Melo resigning). I just don't see the upside here for either team. Ok fine there's an upside to getting Melo, but if you believe Melo would sign with the Bulls, get him in the offseason, don't let him come here in a lame duck season (without Rose/Deng) and let him get a taste of Thibs (I guess you could spin this as a potential positive too) before becoming a FA. Sign and trade in the offseason.
  23. Jason Collins was a marginal NBA player that you could argue would have found a job in the NBA this year but you can't conclusively say his coming out had to do with him not getting a job. As a mid round projection it would be hard to pretend coming out wasn't a factor if he just slipped out of the draft.
