  1. Man that was really the last one? It's a really weird scenario for Iowa fans. On one hand its very deflating to fall short of high preseason expectations, the way they ended the season is just miserable, and the fact that your big return to the tourney is a play-in game when you've been a lock for weeks is a bit depressing. But on the other hand, there were some pretty bad years for Iowa, and this is much much better than those years, and then you factor in McCaffery's kid and the hope that if Iowa can somehow wake up they definitely have S16/E8 talent and can make a run.
  2. I agree, but like you said I think they can definitely compete next year and even make a playoff run. The defense will be better, but not as good or built the way Emery wants it yet.
  3. Both excellent answers. Thanks for the perspective guys.
  4. I think the Bears are trying to eat that whole amount this year, to make his cap hit way less in future years. But they could move some of that cap hit if they need to. He's 20th in 2015. Plus, it hasn't stopped the Bears from being active in free agency. I think a big part of the argument against Cutler's deal was that it would keep the Bears from improving other areas of the team. Yeah, I'm not saying its a bad thing. I know the Bears purposely set up his deal this way. Just didn't realize it was the biggest cap hit in all of football.
  5. Saw this on reddit. Apparently Jay Cutler has the highest cap hit in the NFL next year at 22.5 mil. Here is the top 25: http://www.spotrac.com/rankings/nfl/cap-hit/
  6. aaaaand another OT loss. Sick of this [expletive]. At least we tied the Avs...
  7. Just turned it on 5 minute ago, have the Hawks been getting dominated like this all game?
  8. So with all the guys we've added in recent months, how much better is the US in the short term and in the long term? Like are these significant game changing talents down the road or just good upgrades?
  9. He's had visits with several teams, so there's definitely some interest around the league. Maybe his asking price is too high given the issues he's had. I don't know, I feel kind of bad for a player who gets a serious injury at the exact worst time contract-wise. He never had a chance to come back and prove himself on the field before trying to sell himself around the league. It's got to be tough. Did the Bears have contract discussions with him before/after franchise tag? If so he had an option, unless the Bears were drastically low balling him, to ensure longer term stability. Instead he chose to play a season getting paid like a top 5 player at his position (I'd argue he is clearly not close to top 5) and risk something like this happening.
  10. Funny you ask about this... http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-chicago-cubs-wrigley-field-parking-20140317,0,3358220.story So absolutely nothing was accomplished in the offseason and its now been a year since the Cubs supposed deadline for getting everything approved (Opening day 2013)
  11. http://sportsmockery.com/josh-mccown-says-hes-better-jay-cutler/ This is going to get way overblown of course, but reading his full quotes, he is trying to be diplomatic about it.
  12. So....no sign or is this still a possibility? Haven't heard anything about renovations for a month..
  13. Hopefully not Adam Morrison
  14. Pic or it didn't happen. On my Facebook already, but I value my privacy more than your opinion, sorry man. That's a shame... My opinion is held in the highest regard. Would you like access to my facebook page? No Kukoc pics but I was on the front page of the Trib once.
  15. it's funny to me that espn invents bpi and then proceeds to act like it matters. BPI had Michigan as a 6 seed, therefore I hate BPI
  16. My bracket is horrible and needs to be revised but I wanted to at least float one out there that didn't have MSU in the Final Four. Florida, Virginia, Duke and Creighton with Florida winning it. I think MSU and Louisville, while both great teams are being overrated right now, so State is losing to UVA and Louisville to Duke. I don't even like Duke that much but I think they will beat UM and then its between them, Louisville and Wichita State and I don't have WSU making the Final Four. Creighton is a different story. I'm really hung up on Oklahoma State for some reason. I think they take down Arizona in the 3rd round and SD St. in the S16. Not the biggest fan of Creighton either but I think they are good enough to take down Bucky and get to the E8 to play OSU. I'm completely insane aren't I? I don't like half my final 4, and the other 2 are one seeds including the one that people like the least, but this is how it played out with 5 second gut reactions for each pick.
  17. Yes he does. Is that a reason to pick MSU though? At least we have Izzo's first class with a losing record against Michigan (despite yesterday) :)
  18. Why is everyone and their mom picking MSU to win the title? I've never seen such consensus in my life of following the NCAAs. Even more then Kentucky a couple of years ago. I can understand the talking points (weak region, finally healthy, dominated BTT, Izzo in march, etc). To me with that you can make the case that they are among a handful of teams that could win it all (and lest anyone think I'm being a homer, I don't think UM is one of those teams), maybe one you can say is a favorite to get to E8/F4 but people have gone bananas over MSU, the team that was recently losing 6/10 games including just a week ago to OSU and 2 weeks ago at home to Illinois (while fully healthy).
  19. You never see what it looks like when a team throws a selection show party and doesn't get in: http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/17/7asymusu.jpg
  20. IU declined a CBI invite apparently
  21. Maybe Indiana can make the CBI?
  22. Is that just based on NIT one and two seeds? Because I thought the NIT does some wacky things with seeding so that a 1 seed doesn't necessarily mean it was the closest to NCAAs
  23. Can't believe SMU didn't get in just because everyone insisted they were locks. Same with Iowa who barely made it.
  24. Lunardi and Jerry Palm both say Michigan is a 1 seed regardless of whether they win today bc of the late start. Seems a bit of a stretch.
  25. Excited for the Final tomorrow. MSU is the only team Michigan has never played in the Big Ten Tourney.
