Yea their extremely well positioned if they feel like going off on a run, but even discussing it is false hope and I won't allow myself to dwell on it too long. I'd really just prefer an embarrassing loss this week so I can focus on tanking rather than actually root for the playoffs only to finish 8-8 again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk In addition to my above post, if the Bears did run the table, that would give the Lions at least 5 losses on the season, not including their road games in GB and NE (we all know how we handled that scenario).

The fact that its not as hard as I thought to pencil the Bears in at 10-6 and even 9-7 makes me feel a little better. OK they aren't really going to make the playoffs and they aren't going to go 6-0 or 5-1 the rest of the year...but if they did they would likely hold the tiebreaker over 3 of the 4 teams they look like they'd be up against (Detroit, Dallas and San Francisco) and would probably have the best conference record amongst the teams considering 3 of their losses came against the AFC.

Normally I'd be pissed that a high profile FA is visiting when it's like 10 degrees and only mid-November but Lester lived in Boston for 10 years. He knows what's up.

It's funny that we can cap a year where we got out of the World Cups Group of Death and consider it a down year. You aren't wrong, I'm just pointing out how strange that is.

I think the Cardinals in on Lester might be a good thing. Perhaps the Cubs would be more willing to up their offer if the Cardinals got in a bidding war. Say what you want about Theo sticking to his plan, if the Cubs want to compete for the division in 2015 you can't let the Cardinals get Heyward and Lester while only giving up Shelby Miller.

This included the infamous stretch between 1999-2003 where all Chicago teams that I care about sucked Cubs - 0 playoff appearances, 3 last place finishes and 1 late season collapse Bears - 1 playoff appearance which was a disappointing loss, 3 last place finishes with 10 losses Blackhawks - 1 playoff appearance that led to being trounced by rivals, 4 sub .500 records Bulls - 0 playoff appearances, 4 last place finishes, 4 seasons either losing 60 or on a 60 loss pace (lockout season) So 2/18 teams made the playoffs (Cubs and Bears 4 seasons, Bulls and Hawks 5 seasons), both were fluke seasons that ended abruptly when the playoffs started and 10 last place finishes This was my sports fandom from age 16-20 -

There was nothing more exciting then seeing Carlos Marmol pitch in 2007. He came in during numerous close games and was pretty much as lights out as you could get. -
I don't agree with it but its hard to defend what he did to his kid. I guess you could try to compare 2 games for hitting wife vs. 15 for abusing child, but again I don't want to be defending child abuse as a less severe offense.

Truffle's post clearly outlined why you are completely wrong. The Cubs are going to have won the WS by October 19th next year? And only 15 posts in the celebratory thread by noon of (presumably - at least) the next day? It was just easier to use Oct 19. And yeah most of the action is in the game thread. I just made a pointless celebratory post that wasn't needed. In reality, I saw something on reddit about how to edit web pages using Java script and took a screen grab from the site and the top post only had one page so I couldn't edit it in.

So the NCAA tournament is going back to calling the round of 64 and round of 32 the first and second rounds respectively beginning in 2016. So does this mean the "play in" teams are actually in the NCAA Tournament or not? And does it even matter?

LOL that is crazy to think about. If they beat Ole Miss and Missouri, I could see them sneak in the 22-25 range. Has there ever been a 5 loss team in the top 25 ranking ever? Yeah I think its happened for like an 8-5 team in the post-bowl rankings. Edit: Michigan finished 8-5 in 2012 and was ranked 24th in the final poll. South Carolina finished 9-5 in 2010 and finished 22nd

Not sure about Jenkins but Walden made the AS Team for the Angels in 2011 and has been a solid if unspectacular middle reliever for awhile.
