    I'm not discounting him signing with the Cubs but I'm not sure about the logic. The FO has shown time and time again that they are sticking to their plan, which includes not overpaying their predetermined price for FAs. If another team pays more than they want to they will let him go. To add to that, they've pretty much set the expectations that this year will be an improvement but 2016 is the year they target to seriously contend. Next years FA pitching is even better than this years. They won't have a problem letting Lester go, signing a middle of the road FA starter with value and then go after Price or Zimmerman next year.

    Win it after barely sneaking in? Would they even raise a banner for that or would they avoid it so that opponents aren't laughing at them when they come to town? Might ruin the home field advantage.

    I used to play in a league with hundredth-points. It was completely ridiculous. Yup....I'm in a league with hundredth-points. I once lost a matchup by 0.08 points. The only way to even get hundreth points is with a QBs passing yards I believe.

    I will admit that the championship DVD for a Super Bowl champion that had a 5-11 regular season would be interesting to watch.

    The point of sports is to win a championship....unless your team has a crappy regular season then in which case you should probably tank in the first round of the playoffs so that other fanbases don't laugh at you. Did I get that right?

    I don't get what your point is? The 2006 Phillies don't recognize the Cardinals championship because their team won more games than them? Again, the end game is a championship. Would I prefer to see the Cubs win the championship after a 105 win regular season over a team that wins 83 games and sneaks in? Yeah...but the difference between the 2 is not very negligable.

    Kaplan is a Cubs mouthpiece. Wouldn't be surprised if the Cubs leaked this to him so that it softens the blow that he's returning to Boston

    So based on recent FA history, the winning team will just need to add a 7th year and an additional $1m AAV to best the Cubs. There will be at least one team that will be desperate enough to do that. So 7/142
