  1. ive been loving reading these this week and I think they're spot on observations. Going from Fields who was completely indecisive and had issues with slow processing time to this is quite jarring in the best way possible. Since I've never really rooted for a great QB at the pro level, it is hard to understand what really makes a great QB but when you actually see it in front of you it just kind of clicks, and as you pointed out you start to understand how hollow many of the excuses we've made for QBs in the past are (WR can't get open, OL can't block, etc). I always wondered why the Patriots rarely invested a ton into WRs when Brady was in his prime. Obviously they had Moss for a couple of years but there were many years where it was Welker or Edelmann and some scraps. I'm guessing even though Brady would bitch about getting new WRs, the Patriots knew they didn't need them (at least because they were paying Brady so much). Same thing with Rodgers after they traded Adams and of course now with Maholmes, though Maholmes is really struggling this season. But at the end of the day, the Chiefs could afford to trade away Hill and still continue winning Super Bowls. The Bears will have to make those types of tough decisions in a couple of years, but for now lets take advantage of the rookie contract while we can and ball out.
  2. Holy moly. I didn’t expect to win in Mexico with our B- team but that was a bad beat down.
  3. It's looking like the Steelers are surprisingly going to start Russell Wilson. Guess they really dont want to give the Bears that 4th Edit: looks like I was just beaten lol
  4. Definitely a quality win, though looking at Corsi tells me that it was a pretty fortunate outcome for the Hawks. I'll take them however we can get them though.
  5. Yessss JT made his breakdown of Caleb free this week
  6. Easily my favorite too. As I said at the time, in that situation I’m so used to thinking “agh it’s 3rd and goal from the 9, oh well at least we’ll get 3 here as long as they don’t throw an INT.” Outside of a few times here and there, the Bears were locked out from being able to succeed in these situations. It’s an adjustment (a very fun adjustment) to realize that we have a QB that can beat you in just about every way possible.
  7. All the teams in the North look scary in their own way, but yeah at their best Detroit looks pretty fearsome. That said, Dallas kind of sucks this year so not the best gauge.
  8. He seems to cause that to happen a lot.
  9. Also And that was before the Packers won by 21 and the Lions leading by 28
  10. Live best point differentials in the entire NFL Minnesota + 63 Detroit +50 (game in progress) Chicago +47 Green Bay +41 Tampa Bay +37 Buffalo leads the AFC at +36
  11. I can't wait for Caleb to shut up the 'Jayden Daniels is an offensive ROY lock' chatter in 2 weeks. Favorite pass was the 1st throw to Keenan on 3rd and goal from the 9. I am so used to the Bears being in that situation and saying "Damn, 3rd and goal from the 9, at least we got 3 points here as long as [insert name of failed Bears QB] doesn't throw a pick" But no, we got a perfectly placed back shoulder dart to a WR right over the middle of the field. Incredible, just incredible. The last 3 opponents have 3 of the worst defenses in the NFL so it might now always be this perfect, but clearly we got the guy and I'm so excited to see where it goes.
  12. I understand that viewpoint and as a neutral fan I agree with it...its super fun to see teams like the Tigers come out of nowhere to potentially end up in the ALCS. But if the Cubs ever decide to make the playoffs again, it would annoy me to no end to play 162 games, win the division and have the season end 72 hours after the final regular season game because you had 2 bad games. If that's how they want to do it fine...hopefully one of these years the Cubs will be like last year's Diamondbacks, win 84 games and end up in the World Series. But I'd personally prefer to go back to the 8 team model, every playoff team plays at least 3 games and has at least 1 home game. But I know that is never going to happen now that we've taken it this far.
  13. DVOA (I know just one of many metrics out there) has the Jags as the 27th best team in the NFL, with the 16th best offense and 32nd best defense in the league For reference the Panthers are 30th overall, with the 29th best offense and 30th best defense. Bears 20th overall, 26th best offense and 7th best defense. They have played the easiest schedule in the league so far (rankings of opponents: 26th, 7th, 19th, 25th and 30th) and have the hardest remaining schedule in the league (27, 10, 21, 28, 11, 1, 5, 9, 1, 5, 8, 11) Only some of this was responding to you, I started to go down the DVOA rabbit hole for a minute there 😄
  14. Honestly I know its the Yankees and their not exactly my top choice to make the WS, but its been 15 years since they've been in it. I don't hate the idea of them making it and seeing Judge, Soto, etc on the biggest stage. I realize that not all will agree. The Dodgers can horsefeathers themselves
  15. Yeah we're starting to get pretty banged up especially defensively. Gonna have to win in a shootout. Lawrence has only had more than 220 passing yards in a game once this year but it was his most recent (371 yards vs. Colts)
  16. No that was another option discussed around the same time but the McDome was a proposed dome stadium build next to McCormick Place. It could have been built for cheaper than it took to renovate Soldier Field and would have had a longer shelf life. Not to mention things like Super Bowls, Big Ten Championship FB games, Final Fours, possible Wrestlemanias all the big event crap we hope for with a new stadium would have been possible and we’d have been ahead of the curve
  17. That’s all you really can do right? The Dodgers won 100 games last year but since they went out in the NLDS they decided to sign a first ballot inner circle HOFer AND one of the highest regarded Japanese pitchers ever to come over not to mention crapload of other moves to shore up every possible hole that they could find and as a result they are still 1 bad game away from going out in the NLDS again. Just need a ticket to the show and while it’s not a complete crapshoot, once you get there you just hope that the luck goes your way. The Phillies have a team that’s good enough to mostly run back and get another chance next year so I’m guessing that’s what they’ll do
  18. Baseball continues to have the most random results of any playoffs. I imagine it makes it so hard to get excited about your team being in it until you get to the NLCS because their first 2 rounds are just so random. At least that’s how I’d feel if my team ever made it. It doesn’t matter how great your team is or how few holes you have, you can be out of it in the blink of an eye. As a neutral, this makes the playoffs much more exciting. But as lame as I know this sounds, I almost wish we went back to 8 team playoffs. Division winners and 1 WC per league. The results would still be random as hell but at least you can narrow down the randomness to only having the top 4 teams (more or less) participating in said randomness.
  19. I want the big events in Chicago. Super Bowl, Final Four, Wrestlemania, Big Ten championship game. I doubt I would attend any of those events but for civic pride. Stop giving all that horsefeathers to Indy or Minny. Otherwise Soldier Field is whatever. There's nothing detestable about it outside of getting there but I think we could do a lot better.
  20. I think at least where I live you aren't allowed to do headers in games until at least 14 years old. You are allowed to do headers in practice after 11 years old but not in actual games.
  21. Quite the tone setter of an opening period
  22. I'm not sure about the streaming networks like YouTube TV but I'm 99% sure Xfinity will have the channel at the very latest by the start of the Bulls regular season, but most likely sooner. This is the same crap as Marquee where they didn't agree with Comcast until the night before the season opener (during the COVID year). It would be an absolute disaster for the Bulls and Blackhawks to go very long without fans having access to games (its neat that they are broadcasting OTA but most people arent going to buy an antenna solely for this...maybe if the teams were any good but they're not)
