  1. With 15 games left in 2023 the Cubs were 2 games ahead in the loss column over the DBacks and Reds for WC3. I believe they were losing the tiebreaker to both teams With 15 games left in 2026 the Cubs might end the night 2 games ahead in the loss column over the DBacks and Padres for WC 2/3. They will own the tiebreaker over both teams Still in a better position (and yes the DBacks are currently trailing the Royals 2-1) but it’s getting frighteningly similar
  2. Cubs might go 2-5 against Milwaukee but if they can score a couple runs they will win the RD battle over those 7 games
  3. Correction: the Padres will be 2 back and both will be 2 behind in the loss column
  4. Cubs were 99.8% to make the playoffs on Saturday. Since then Cubs 0-4 Padres 4-0 Diamondbacks 3-0 (playing now) interested to see where they end up after tonight
  5. If the Cubs miss the playoffs I propose a clean sweep in the offseason. Won’t happen but there needs to be a reset after 2 improbable September playoff collapses in a 4 season span
  6. Not gonna watch after last nights horsefeathers but one thing to look forward to: PCA is currently at 9.9 fWAR for the season. Can get above 10 tonight
  7. Who could have ever foreseen him having issues with judgement?
  8. Cubs playoff odds on Fangraphs have dropped from 99.8% on Saturday to 97.9% this morning lol
  9. 5-4 Padres now. Looking like the standings will be Phillies -- Cubs 0.5 Diamondbacks 3.5 ------------- Padres 3.5 Edit: I'm being told the DBacks and Padres are actually 3.5 games behind the Cubs, but whatever, 3 behind in the loss column
  10. And the Padres have tied it. Looking like a worst case scenario night with the Cubs losing and the Phillies, Diamondbacks and Padres winning.
  11. Bases loaded 0 outs after yet another walk. Cubs might be down to a 3 (4) game lead due to another bullpen collapse
  12. And of course the Padres have 2 on and 0 outs after some dude who has 3 MLB innings in his career walks the first 2 hitters. Now the top of their order is up.
  13. 4-1 in the 8th now. I don’t see Webb or Palencia warming up at least
  14. They have had a lead in 16 of these 19 games and a 2+ run lead in 14 of the 19 games.
  15. The Brewers hired a chemistry teacher with cancer to take the Cardinals pixie dust formula and make it 98% pure and now it’s pixie dust on steroids.
  16. Nationals up 3-0 at least over SD. If they hang on the cushion stays at 5 games with 16 left (4+tiebreaker)
  17. To be fair we developed Steele, we developed Horton, we developed Brown. They all just suffered multi-year long injuries while the Brewers guys make 30+ starts a year. The pen is a problem and has been for several years though.
  18. 5 of those losses by 1 run 3 of those losses by 2 runs 3 of those losses with a lead in the 9th and 2 outs +27 RD during that stretch
  19. I’d walk Contreras intentionally here Edit: oh wait forgot there’s a .625 OPS hitter due up, they have us right where they want us
  20. Outside of the A's who play in a launching pad, no team is within 20 HRs allowed of the Cubs.
