  1. This by no means lowers my desire to get Maddon but I'd feel a little bad for Renteria. There wasn't a ton I didn't like about him and Theo and company said nothing but good things about his performance and left little doubt that he'd be back. Would suck for him to be dumped for a hotter girl after one season.
  2. We sure we love Ricky here in Chicago?
  3. Seems to me this type of oddity is very common every year in the NHL. yeah i was going to say, this happens every year it seems.
  4. We...we didn't win. Bums!
  5. Would also be nice if Rivers tried to pass to Oliver beyond the LOS. he's positive now with a 22 yard completion but before that he has 5 receptions for -4 yards and 6 yards on 9 carries. Ugh
  6. Let me preface this by saying I'm a huge Wiggins fan. I don't mind trade for the Cavs even if Wiggins becomes a current generation TMac. I think Kevin Love is a top 15 player, plays a position of need and gives the Cavs a player they can win with over the next 3 years. I think it's a trade they had to make and one that makes them better. Also there is a chance that LeBron wanted them to trade for love as a condition for coming back to Cleveland.
  7. I love that hating on the Cardinals is a national thing now so we don't have to sound like lonely bitter cubs fans bitching about these things.
  8. Contractual obligation. What are they gonna do, not let him be on the radio anymore? Not pay him what they've referred to on the radio as a "handsome" amount, which is probably still pretty insignificant to him. Well also the people he's offending are the local sports media, who have historically been ruthless to people they don't like. Again, I don't care that he skipped a stupid radio show, just pointing out there is more at stake that side money for him. But I don't think Jay cares.
  9. I didn't realize that 8:30 CT game would be on nationally. This might actually be the week my wife breaks up with me. 14 hours of football.
  10. Someone earlier was asking how this compared to the 2005 Bleacher rennovation...BCB posted some photos from then: http://www.bleedcubbieblue.com/2014/10/23/7046801/wrigley-field-construction-retrospective-october-2005-part-1#4327140
  11. Not quite the hospital so not good enough, right? lol seriously a weak excuse, come on. omgz he couldnt have just done the show later in the day? we gotta run this bozo out of town already. he couldn't have scheduled this doctors appointment when he didn't have a radio show to do? he didn't know about this appointment until the morning of, which happened the be the day after a bunch of controversy related to his team happened? his wife, who half the time seems to be in attendance at the show, couldn't have taken the kid to a doctor's appointment? should have come up with a better excuse. well yeah i think the excuse is silly. He would have been better off just not giving an excuse, he didnt owe one to anyone.
  12. I'm pretty sure the ones that aren't rotated into the playoffs are like regular bowl games with specific conference tie-ins. There are no more "at-large" teams selected. I believe those big bowls not hosting a playoff game (Cotton, Fiesty, Peach this year) still have a very high payout similar to a BCS bowl.

  14. Wouldn't be a Bulls season without lingering injury concerns.
  15. Hah. Looks like they are no longer a united front and realized they lost. Will be interesting to see what they do with the rooftops once they own them.
  16. I'm sick of that Marlins dude behind the plate at every big game.
  17. Looks like crow is going to miss at least the next 2 games but after last night I guess it's less of a concern with how good Raanta looked.
  18. Kind of expected that. Giants are a west coast team and boring, and Kansas City is a tiny market. Although their story is great, they don't have a lot of household names, and I think the 'irrelevant for 30 years' story actually works against them for the casual fan. The 5 day break between the LCS and WS didn't help in terms of momentum either.
  19. If there's one thing Jerry Angelo knows, it's young OL talent. "Gabe Carimi, Chris Williams and J'Marcus Webb, now those are a special talents!"
  20. Prediction: Giants in 6 Hope: Royals in 7
  21. Did you see the minutes played? They were not overplayed. This was the first time that Rose had played any significant 4th quarter minutes in the preseason, and he still only played 24 minutes. Four of the Cleveland starters played more minutes than any of the Bulls did. I know Thibs is crazy, but this was not an issue last night. Yeah. If anything, the Cavs were the team that treated this like a regular season game (and I believe they said as much going in). According to realgm, irving said it was a statement game. sometimes i forget that 2/3rds of the Big 3 has never played a playoff game before.
  22. If anyone is interested in the Phil Emery chat, its mostly very vanilla and obviously he doesn't directly address anything remotely controversial but: http://www.chicagobears.com/news/article-lunchWithLarry/Live-Chat-with-GM-Phil-Emery/af3f5820-ac86-4187-83a7-b7ce46cef5ba About the Soldier Field turf:
  23. So if the Pats put Revis on Marshall, its likely that Jeffery will be matched up against Alfonzo Dennard. The two played against each other in college at the Capital One Bowl, got into a fight and were both ejected. Should be interesting to see that matchup.
  24. On a ranting note, in said league, I lost by 2.02 points last night, and am now 2-5 despite having scored the 2nd most points in the league. The only good news is that 8 teams make the playoffs, I'm in 10th but the 6th-9th place teams are all 3-4. I have been involved in the 1st, 2nd and 4th closest margin games this season, and was the losing team in each. My opponent that beat me this week is 5-1 despite scoring 200 less points than me this year. If I played his schedule I would be 6-1. Figures.
  25. My 10-years and running keeper league went to 1 RB, 2 WRs and a FLEX this year, because of this fact. My 12 team league actually starts 3 RBs and 4 WRs and I don't mind it too much. It's very rare for any team to have 3 quality RBs starting (obviously) so it kind of evens out, but if you do have 3 quality RBs you have a major competitive edge. Right now I'm starting Foster, Branden Oliver and McFadden and its been working out ok. The worst thing about my league is we also start 2 QBs. Do the math...12 teams, 2 starters, 1 bench guy for injuries/bye weeks thats 36 QBs. Obviously only 32 start in the NFL so there are always teams in my league that literally are forced to start a backup hoping that the starter gets injured or replaced during the game or starting someone like Michael Vick and hoping they bring him in to run the wildcat or something. When your opponent has 2 QBs each putting up 20+ points and you start a guy who doesn't play, its almost always a guaranteed loss. League sounds like a mess. In a 2-QB league, I'd draft a QB first round every time, especially top 5-6. You have to have at least 1 elite QB in order to win. And if you get a Rodgers, Manning, Brees, Luck, you can wait a little longer for your 2nd QB and make up your potential disadvantage at RB while everyone is scrambling for the last QBs. Yeah the draft is a huge mess. You see guys like Eli Manning drafted in the 2nd or 3rd round becuase everyone is scrambling to get their QBs secured before they end up with a garbage QB. I have Brees and Tannehill starting with Kyle Orton as my backup currently. The only year I won this league, I lucked out in picking up Vick off waivers the year Reid gave him the reigns of the Eagles, and had Brees and Vick lead me to victory every week. There are a lot of people in the league that complain and want the 2 QB thing changed, and others that love it because it creates additional strategy and extra focus on the FA pool.
