  1. This Darling dude is really tall. Normally I can't tell who is in goal by seeing them during the broadcast but this dude has an imposing presence in net. Playing pretty good today too.
  2. Arians really was available and Emery chose not to interview him, right? I don't want him choosing our next coach. I thought Arians was the other finalist. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk The 3 finalists were Trestman, Bevell and Arians http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2013-01-14/sports/ct-spt-0115-bears-coaching-search--20130115_1_gm-emery-coach-trestman-head-coach
  3. I didn't see much discussion about this and I was watching at a bar so I didn't hear them mention anything but was Tom Brady over the LOS on that 3rd and 18 conversion at the end of the first half? It sure looked close to me. I know Brady smartly rushed them them to the line and snapped it before a challenge, but I'm surprised there were no replays or discussion of it. If he was over the line, that's a big play. Instead of 24-7 it's only 20-7 and maybe the team doesn't make the mistakes they made at the end of the half. I know the Bears played absolutely terrible and deserved to get blown out but there was a crapload of bad breaks for the Bears in that one.
  4. Taking the rumor tag off. Looks like this is true. Absolutely terrible
  5. Pie on my face is this in unfounded. Just saw on twitter
  6. And Allen missing a game after starting like 150 straight games.
  7. Between fighting with his teammates, ripping on fans on twitter, inconsistent play and blowing out his knee celebrating a sack with his team down 30 points, it's been an eventful first year for Houston
  8. Ok I think Trestmans lost this team. No way they are *this* bad
  9. Jimmy Claussen time!
  10. Well the last time we played these guys it was 33-0 at halftime so I guess it's an improvement?
  11. Sullen: grumble grumble fumble right to pats grumble grumble
  12. Typical Blues. Beat us in the regular season we'll beat you in the playoffs.
  13. How did that happen? Wow. Shitty way for Ole Miss to lose
  14. Man it's just so hard to watch Michigan football these days. It's pretty bad when a year ago Michigan scored 6 points in a blowout loss and it was an disappointing embarrassment. This year they might score 3 points and it's somewhat within the realm of expectations.
  15. You'll have to be more specific as there's two of them in this game. Hope you mean Shane.
  16. Winter meetings are in the winter. January or early February, I believe. GM meetings are in a few weeks in November. Winter meetings are in early December. Ah that's why I was confused, was thinking about the GM meetings. To answer your original question, I think any interview process the Cubs might go through with him will be done mostly on the down-low and we might not even officially hear about it until he's hired. I have it on good authority that the Cubs won't even reach out to Maddon for an interview until this thread hits 100 pages.
  17. Probably has a little to do with Chandler jones and others being out
  18. Maybe we should reconsider, I just read he grew up a Cardinals fan.
  19. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/chi-bears-linebackers-injuries-20141024-story.html Also this article says that Christian Jones will be starting in place of Greene this week (assuming Briggs doesn't play of course)
  20. Looks like old man Briggs and his backup Bostic will be sitting again. Great news on Fuller
  21. It's a gamble. I would have made the bet with odds (like you give $750 if the Cubs finish .500 or below, you get $1000 if they finish above). There are too many variables, too many young players who we don't know how long it will take them to adjust to bigs, injuries, the possibility of the Cubs starting off slow and Theo deciding to be sellers at the deadline one more time, etc.
  22. but red zone is only useful on sunday and doesn't have anything to do with primetime games. are you watching thur/sun/mon night? Not diligently, if I am home and not doing something else, I'll flip it on for a few minutes here and there to see how my fantasy players are doing, or if the score is close late I'll put it on. But yeah interest is definitely diminished over a few years ago. Last night's Chargers/Broncos game would have been a game I would have watched in its entirety 3-4 years ago. I still watch a 10x more football than I do the other sports.
  23. Overall sportswise, jersey's point is spot on about getting older and having more to do. Obviously I still post here frequently and keep up on sports news and discussion, but actually sitting down and watching games not involving my teams has become very infrequent. And when my team sucks I even stop watching them quite a bit. However, the NFL is the exception for me, probably for 2 reasons: Fantasy football and NFL Red Zone channel. Fantasy football forces me to pay attention to the league as a whole, and the red zone channel is just an amazing entertainment experience imo.
  24. I Googled and found an article about Yunel Escobar that said Maddon and the bilingual bench coach (Dave Martinez) met with him before the waiver deadline to assure him he wouldn't be moved. Since the writer specifically mentioned Martinez was bilingual, I'm guessing Maddon isn't. Ok well, how is his hip holding up?
