  1. They got outcoached on the 4th down
  2. I have to say it’s quite jarring to hear Chris Collinsworth gushing about a Bears QB after 20 years of him gushing about the opposing QB and making jokes about ours.
  3. Can we get the running game working? These long draws and dancing at the LOS ain’t working
  4. I like the Orange jerseys a lot better with orange helmets
  5. This is promising
  6. Why are all the Bears running plays so slow and long developing? Same as last week.
  7. Absolutely agree from a future standpoint. From a “win this game” standpoint I’d rather have Allen playing through a heel injury than Rome hobbling through a knee injury. But prove me wrong Rome!
  8. Especially telling given the injuries at WR. I know Velus is listed as a RB technically but obviously his background is as a WR
  9. that’s what concerns me. Active but unable to get any separation because his knee won’t allow him to make cuts and accelerate like normal. We’ll see
  10. Where did I give any props to the QBs? My post was about the value of good offensive coaching. LaFleur is an elite offensive coach and is able to run a semi-functional offense that gained 383 yards with Malik Willis at QB.
  11. I'm sure it stings a bit to see him turn out to be a solid MLB 1B but they never would have been able to give him the opportunity that he got with the Cubs and they ended up getting a consensus Top 100 prospect for him so I'm gonna guess they feel ok about the exchange.
  12. Boog low key taking credit for inspiring PCA to get to 10 HRs.
  13. I almost made a post earlier that I really hoped Busch could get number 20 and PCA get number 10 before the end of the season and instead they got there today.
  14. Nah I don’t think so when Malik Willis involved.
  15. I would have guessed Charlie Blackmon was a certified Cub killer but I just looked at his career splits and the Cubs have actually held him to the 3rd lowest OPS of any team to face him more than. 80 PA (basically besides AL teams)
  16. Everyone acts like getting good start out of Hendricks is a miracle but he hasn’t been that bad for a while outside of the occasional blow up start. I get it, those blow up starts add up and are what separate a mediocre pitcher from a bad pitcher but when he’s on he can still be a passable starting pitcher. Here are his starts since rejoining the rotation on a mostly full-time basis: 6 IP, 1 ER 4.1 IP, 2 ER 5 IP, 2 ER 1.2 IP, 6 ER 4.2 IP, 3 ER 5 IP, 1 ER 6 IP, 2 ER 5 IP, 3 ER 5 IP, 6 ER 5 IP, 3 ER 7 IP, 0 ER 2 blowup starts (one where a majority of the runs scored came after a bad defensive play that would have ended the inning) but the other 9 were somewhere between passable and solid. Not rushing to bring him back next year or anything but it’s not a miracle if he has a decent start. Not picking on you JHBulls, just something I see every time Kyle pitches when he’s been decent or better more often than not for quite awhile.
  17. Nope mine is the correct one. You put Malik Willis on a crappy team and give him 3 weeks to learn the playbook and he's not putting up a 126 QB rating and leading an offense to 16 points. Darnold was on his way out of the league and he's putting up 72% completion percentage and 9.5 YPA so far. Obviously early in the season and the sample size is small so feel free to challenge me in a couple of weeks if he comes back down to earth but I think good offensive coaching matters that much. I don't think Jordan Love is honestly that great, but MLF has turned him into an extremely effective QB.
  18. Crazy that Sam Darnold is about to have the Vikings 2-0 after a win over the 49ers today. The Packers are about to win and had a semi-functional offense with Malik Willis at QB, who has been on the team for like 3 weeks. Feels like offensive coaching matters
  19. Definitely did not think that we might end up with Allen out and Rome in for this one.
  20. I'd be really interested to know how many games the average team loses when leading at some point in the 8th inning or later (I know, UMFan is obsessing over this again). Like does it happen 3-4 times a year? 10? Imagine if instead of blowing 14 games with a lead in the 8th inning or later, they only blew 7. 7 still seems like a high number but who knows. But anyways, in that scenario the Cubs are suddenly 1 game ahead of the Mets/Braves for WC3.
  21. OK I did the work, that’s the 14th time the Cubs have had the lead in the 8th inning or later and lost the game: 9/14 @ COL 9/2 vs PIT 8/3 vs STL 7/13 @ STL 6/24 @ SF 6/17 vs SF 6/11 @ TB 5/25 @ STL 5/3 vs MIL 5/2 @ NYM 4/20 vs MIA 4/16 @ ARI 4/8 @ SD 3/28 @ TEX
  22. Dammit I’m gonna have to do the work and count how many games we’ve lost with a lead in the 8th inning or later. I lost count a long time ago. Gotta be something like 15 or so at this point
