  1. With tonight's win, the Hawks clinch a playoff spot, kept pace with St Louis, gained on Nashville and distanced themselves from Minnesota who lost.
  2. Cool photo, and the first one I've seen of the jumbotron not using test patterns...and also the Wintrust sign is going up.
  3. Angry Bryant is.............not discernible from regular Bryant.
  4. Well at least Wrigley won't be the ugliest ballpark on Opening Day
  5. Sounds like the Cubs are going to move forward with 3 catchers on the roster http://www.csnchicago.com/cubs/cubs-planning-keep-welington-castillo-insurance
  6. Haha, Emery's last move as GM completely voided.
  7. See you next year Sloan Park
  8. Maybe but there are multiple cases of broken collarbones and the recovery time required. Kane coming back in round 1 would completely blow those return times away.
  9. Beat folks are suggesting this means an acceleration in his timetable, though it was noted due to the cap he can't come back until the playoffs start. If he's back for Game 1 of the playoffs, we should all probably be ecstatic about that. I just cant understand how he'd be ready 3 weeks earlier. This isn't like an ankle spain or something. It's a broken bone healing. If they bring him back and its not 100% fully healed, they are fucked because teams will be looking to check him as much as possible. I understand Kane has historically been a quick healer but even discussing a round 1 return seems very optimistic.
  10. Also, I think its stupid that the Cubs have to play their last spring game on Saturday afternoon in Arizona. I'm guessing they will send all of Sunday's starters and pen to Chicago after the Friday game and fill the saturday game with bench guys and guys called up from the minor league camp. That game should have been cancelled once it was announced that the Cubs would be involved in the sunday night game.
  11. I like how forward-thinking Maddon is. Apparently he's moved on from batting pitchers 8th to playing 5 infielders. Maybe having Hammel pitch from 2B is a way to fully stretch his arm out before the season starts?
  12. lmao He's worth 1.4 wins (assuming Olt is only replacement level) in 2 weeks of playing time?
  13. Haha, I could see Julian Green addressing the media on Sunday: "No, uhhh, we intended for that crane to remain on the field. Umm....we feel it will add a unique character to the ballpark. We are working with tonights umpires to define ground rules."
  14. Well no, because I was asking for people's 2015 predictions for the MLB as a whole. I just posted a media prediction and cubcentrically posted a summary.
  15. My predictions: E: Blue Jays C: Indians W: Angels WC1: Mariners WC2: Tigers E: Nationals C: Cardinals W: Dodgers WC1: Pirates WC2: Fine, Cubs Mariners over Tigers Cubs over Pirates Mariners over Angels Blue Jays over Indians Nationals over Cubs Dodgers over Cardinals Mariners over Blue Jays Nationals over Dodgers Nationals over Mariners MVP: Trout, Rendon (just trying to be bold) Cy Young: Hernandez, Wainwright ROY: Rusney Castillo, Bryant
  16. Feel free to include your own, but also wanted to post media predictions as I find them http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/mlb-predictions-2015--standings--playoffs--awards-and-more-043325435.html Tim Brown: 82-80, 3rd, 6 GB Division, 2 GB WC2 Jeff Passan: 83-79, 3rd, 9 GB Division, 3 GB WC2 Mike Oz: 84-78, 3rd, 6 GB Division, 1 GB WC2 Chris Cwik: 82-80, 3rd, 8 GB Division, 2 GB WC1/WC2 Mark Townsend: 83-79, 5 GB Division, 3 GB WC2 Mike Oz actually lists the Cubs in his playoff predictions but for some reason has the 89-73 Pirates out of the playoffs. Anyways, he has the Cubs beating the Padres in the WC game and then losing to the Nats in the NLDS. -2 of the 5 have Kris Bryant winning ROY, 2 of the other 3 have Soler winning ROY, the 5th has Joc Pederson winning it. -1 guy has Soler as his breakout hitter -2 of the guys predict that Jake Arrieta will thrown the first no hitter this season. -3 of the 5 predict Lester will have a better season than Scherzer -Each picked the date of Bryant's first MLB HR (2 picked 4/17 which I think is the first day he can come up, then 4/23, 4/29 and 5/2)
  17. Almost there.... http://i.imgur.com/EdT4Q1d.jpg I'm guessing once they finish putting up the panels they need to set up all the wiring and stuff before its operational. Plus they probably need to close up the back of the structure to protect from weather.
  18. Looks like they are done for today. 1/4 complete. If they follow that pace it will be done on Friday.
  19. I was going to make a joke like 'because they outscored their opponents in ~55.6% of their games this year" but I figured it would get nothing but groans.
  20. Javy makes a positive contribution
  21. all star break? wtf are they worried about this court decision or what? shouldn't take nearly that long to put up. Right...look how quickly the LF board is going up. Something fishy here
  22. Apparently it's going up fast:
  23. Maybe its like those encyclopedia sets that they use to advertise when I was a kid. "For only 12 installments of $19.95, you will receive a new and exciting panel each month to add to your collection."
  24. Guys stop swearing or else Eric Patterson will stop doing interviews with us
