  1. Michigan has now allowed 1 score in their last 13 quarters, a garbage time TD allowed by Michigan backups against UNLV.
  2. Cool article in The New Yorker from former Cub teammate Adrian Cardenas. Gives you a glimpse into Rizzo's personality http://www.newyorker.com/news/sporting-scene/watching-a-friend-lead-the-cubs-to-the-playoffs
  3. It's one of those things where you dream for the better part of a decade for a game like this, and then when the game is going on and your stomach is in knots you wish it was some boring game in July. But you really don't believe that, it just feels like it at the time.
  4. Hence, why I was playing the "2 NLDS, including game 5 starts" angle. Right and people have brought that up here. I just don't think you mess around with a 1 game playoff. You start your best pitcher and figure out the rest when you win. Even if Liriano has the Cubs number much of the time, it's just not worth the risk to start an inferior pitcher, especially because you burned the better pitcher to ensure home field for a 1 game playoff. I also said that. They should have negative hearts for people that have 2 chances to read an entire post and still don't. Sorry I skim things too often :)
  5. Can we get the 08 Cubs and whoever the rainout was against back together to play that makeup game so we don't have a half game separating us. If they win I can live with it.
  6. If Greinke somehow gives up 4 runs in 7 innings tonight, Jake will finish with a lower ERA

  8. I don't think home field is worth burning your best pitcher for.
  9. Who would have thought that with 2 days left in the season the Cubs would be 30 games over .500 and 12 games up on a playoff spot?
  10. Breaking news: baseball player wants to play baseball
  11. Oh well. Pirates walk off Ballister should consider a new profession
  12. The guy the Reds have in has allowed 11 ER in 14.1 IP. He walked his first batter on 4 pitches
  13. Damn so it looks like my dream of a 3 way tie in the AL WC race will be on life support unless the Twins can pick up at least 2 runs in the 9th
  14. He did have a ND in Pittsburgh that the Cubs won in 13 innings
  15. Come on IMB let the Cubs break this open
  16. Cigriani comes in and promptly walks in a run. Now 4-2, still bases loaded and 0 outs
  17. Pirates have the bases loaded and 0 outs in the 6th trailing 4-1
  18. I know RBIs are stupid but KB has been stuck on 99 for awhile. Really want him to reach 100
  19. he hasn't really been in any nosedive. he just hasn't had luck. so you've been seeing those signs all month basically. He's hitting like .188/.650 ops over the last month or so. I completely agree he's been unlucky and that's part of it for sure. I just haven't seen many bad ABs lately like I was seeing a couple of weeks ago. I'll withdraw the word nosedive and replace it with slump his walk rate is up and his k rate is down this month (sept/oct that is), along with the absurdly low babip I guess I have no judgement of time. He has been having better ABs longer than I thought
  20. I love how Len and JD basically just go on an inning long tangent while Jake is in the background mowing down the opponent

  22. Damn. Really good AB by Schwarbs with the worst possible outcome. I'm starting to see him start to show signs of coming out of his nosedive, I think we will start to see some results soon.
