  1. I've never heard of a game starting at 11pm ET
  2. He got out of a Runner on 3rd, 0 out situation without allowing a run!
  3. DFA'd for Jorge
  4. .167 in AA, 4-3, John Daly, Old Man Ross 6-7-8-9
  5. Teix obviously has a much better career WAR, but would we have had the 2003 postseason run without Prior? Would we have made more postseasons with Teix over the length of his career, maybe a world series? I don't know the answer.
  6. Classic year 2 BMarsh
  7. i still like them. just not after a day off after a day game. this is torture. Olympics opening ceremonies. Can't say I've watched one of those since Atlanta
  8. Especially on a Friday night when I watched the games while pre-gaming and by the time it was over I had a solid buzz and it was time to go out. Now I give it a 50% chance I'm awake when the game ends. And to think I used to make fun of old people for not being able to stay up until midnight
  9. Apparently Jesse Rogers said Soler is with the team and is likely to be activated for a reliever. He has already seen Grimm and Edwards at the park so he's not sure who will go down. (of course that doesn't mean its not Grimm or Edwards but if it is they haven't been informed yet). If not Grimm or Edwards the only other options I see are Montgomery to AAA (assuming he has options) or Nathan DFA. I'm getting this second hand from twitter, it seemed like they were saying a move would happen before the game, but possibly not until tomorrow. FWIW Soler was in Chicago yesterday getting evaluated by Cubs team doctors to make sure he's healthy, so him being activated is imminent and I'm sure they'd like to get him back at DH while they have the option. Oh and yes I know he's hitting .167 in AA and probably should spend another month down there.
  10. The NSBB game thread was bumping that day
  11. I cant tell those two apart or at least I dont care enough to distinguish between the two
  12. The interesting thing about this is that it seems like his teammates like him. Well let's see. Lester and Jake - fellow starters they can't screw you. Miggy and Ross - can't piss off your catchers KB and Riz - too good to be a dick to Brandon Hyde - Loathes Lackey but relishes hanging out with the other guys
  13. Off day at pebble beach
  14. reddit username?
  15. would have to start clean at r/northsidebaseball should definitely be a backup forum if this site goes down maybe during the playoffs Done https://www.reddit.com/r/northsidebaseball/ I don't really feel like moderating so if Tim or any of the other mods want to be a mod there, let me know or just wait until the next time NSB goes down and people start posting.
  16. Let's not go too far here. He has an opt out after 2 years when he will become a 10 year vet and be able to make a crapload more. If OKC can't put a contender around him they will be back in this situation in 2 years or possibly as early as next summer.
  17. That is why I have them so low but also because facing Madbum/Cueto 3 times in a 5 game series scares me. Obviously DeGrom/Syndergaard 3 times does too but the Giants have a better offense to go with the starters.
  18. Great off-day reading. Basically Rizzo, Bryant and Ross talking to each other and giving each other horsefeathers http://www.theplayerstribune.com/cubs-anthony-rizzo-kris-bryant-david-ross-retirement/ My favorite is either Bryzzo giving Ross crap for running off the field with 2 outs in the NLCS/trying to throw out a runner between first and second after the Diamondbacks won the game or this part:
  19. I'm over it. The name Mark Prior does not spark any emotion in me positive or negative. Although Dusty Baker still does, but mostly because he's a bumbling moron who blamed everyone but himself for the Cubs failing to win after 2003.
  20. I was thinking the exact same before. Just don't lose to the Mets or Cards, please. I would hate losing to the Cards this year more than anything in the world. I would probably trade 2 of the Hawks Stanley Cups to prevent this from happening. It wouldnt erase the awesomeness of last September but it would certainly minimize it a bit. Anyways my new ranking of teams I'd want to see the Cubs play in the NLDS from most want to to least. This factors in chance of winning and how much I don't want to see us lose to them. Only including teams within 3 games of a playoff spot today. 1. Rockies 2. Marlins 3. Pirates 4. Dodgers (w or w/o Kershaw same spot) 5. Nationals 6. Mets 7. Giants 8. Cardinals
  21. One thing I learned from hearing the audio of this quote is that Lackey is a horrific mouth breather
  22. Strasburg won NL Pitcher of the Month going 4-1 with a 2.08 ERA Hendricks finished July 3-1 with a 1.07 ERA but whatevs
  23. Cubs have played at a 113 win pace since their pre-all star break swoon ended (14-6)
