I think Chapman talked his way out of a 2nd inning, so Contreras is coming on to move Montgomery as low as possible in the order. Yeah I thought about that but we're talking about 1 spot in the order

I actually think the Contreras in for D thing is more perplexing than Chapman. If you were going to take Ross out of the game why not let the better offensive player take the AB in the bottom of the 9th of a tie game

We used Chapman for 3 horsefeathering pitches AND CONTRERAS COMES ON FOR DEFENSE after Ross struck out in a terrible matchup? what the horsefeathers is going on Joe Wait up 12 games chill out this doesn't matter that much

He's been on a really bad run of late. I think he's struck out in over 50% of his ABs the last 2 weeks

With his glove you can't leave him out I mean, we're up, 13 games right now? What's the harm in trying to have him sit out a couple/few days to work on things? They already did. Remember when he missed 2 straight games wrapped around an off day

Really don't understand Ross hitting here against a tough righty. I get that he doesn't want to unload his bench but this is a terrible matchup and Contreras is a perfect option here

In a tie game with Edwards and Rondon unavailable, I think you have to stick with Smith. If he throws anything near the plate to Moss imma be upset though. I don't think there's necessarily a wrong or right there. He's suggesting you try to get another innings out of Smith but if he starts struging obviously you put Grimm in TT's finally wrong!!!!
