I think you're making that up I remember that he was on the Cubs now that you mention it but I would have guessed he was on the team for a week or two at most not half the season -
As I typed the previous post I was listening to Kaps show when a cardinal fan called in and said that the Cardinals should absolutely throw at the Cubs to show that they aren't going to back down. He then went on to say that the Montomgery pitch was 100% intentional and the game situation didn't matter because the Cubs were up 12 games so if there was ever an opportunity to throw at a Cardinal it would be that exact moment. I realize that makes absolutely no sense I'm just repeating what he said

How funny would it be if every Cub batter came up today wearing one of those helmets with the long earpieces to protect their face/head from the Cardinals headhunting. Basically acknowledging that the Cardinals have a reputation as retaliators and we know those douches are going to throw at us.

Rizzo, because he dared take a pitch the ump called a ball. The Cardinals fans will say he got that call because he stands so far over the plate anything inside looks like a ball, so they need to throw at him so he backs off the plate.

That's a [expletive] terrible plan with Jake starting. BTW Cahill has been spotted in the Cubs clubhouse today, I wonder if the Cubs are considering starting him today and moving everyone up a spot. They are going to have to use a 6th starter at some point between now and next Tuesday's DH No he's starting a game Tuesday. Iowa is on a road trip so they had him come to Chicago early to do his work here and travel less. Doesn't it at least make sense to consider it if the Cubs seem to be aiming for 5 innings today? With the off day on Monday, I don't think anyone's schedules would be thrown off. DFA Joe Ross and call Cahill up. Edit: I guess on the flipside, the Cubs have a 13 game divison lead so Jake only throwing 5 innings and like 70 pitches isn't a terrible thing.

That's a nice way to put it. The reaction from the Cubs was so subdued compared to usual walkoffs because everyone was so surprised that it was called a ball.

I'm guessing most of us didn't watch much of this game. The radio people are tearing the Bears apart for the performance which makes me glad I didn't watch much of it so I don't overreact to a preseason game. I mean how bad could it really be for a fake game?

So stupid that a Cub might get hurt this weekend because of Holliday. There is no way we are throwing at them in that situation, so you are going to throw at our guys because one of our pitchers made a bad pitch?

Even if Lackey pitches, the rotation is still normal. Today was Lackeys scheduled side sessoon. I get that. I still am not sure if Joe starts him as normal if he comes in and throws more than 15-20 pitches. I guess with an off day Monday and a DH he could put the spot starter he was going to use Tuesday on Sunday and then pitch Lackey/Hammel on Tuesday.

The 3 ABs I remember in the 9th with the tying or winning run on 3d and less than 2 outs this year are the 2 against Familia (K on 5 balls and GIDP) and this one (3 straight strikes)
