Haha Frank Thomas says this would be the biggest championship in Chicago history if the Cubs win rivaling only the 85 Bears. I'm sure Sox fans love the Big Hurt saying that even if they know it's true.

My grandfather is 87 and nearly died of cancer last year to the point where they were discussing hospice. Somehow he pulled through and is doing well. He told me tonight with emotion in his voice that he is happy he stuck around to see the Cubs in the World Series because the last time they were in it he was in a German work camp and had no idea about the Cubs or baseball. Really hope he gets to see us win

The dichotomy between the unshakeable perception that Hendricks is on the verge of complete failure and also that he's a Greg Maddux clone every time he does well is hilarious. The meatball in me took a long time to get past that. Now I'm completely confident with him on the mound.

I am remaining heavily guarded....like David said, I'm trying to tell myself that a win doesnt mean world series champs. if i start day dreaming about the celebration and horsefeathers it sets me up for an even more painful emotional kick in the balls if the unthinkable happens. I'm pretty sure that's not gonna happen though, have a decently good feeling.

Going back to Kluber's last start to make me feel better about tonight. Yes he had good results but I forgot how many good ABs we had. Here are some of the end results of ABs: Double Single Fly ball to deep CF Lineout Single Walk HBP Fly ball to deep CF Single Fly ball to deep LCF Fly ball to deep RF Double 12 instances of either very good contact off Kluber or a positive result (hit, walk, hbp) in 6 innings. If we do that tonight with average luck we put up 3-4 runs.

I'm not counting hours until the game, I'm counting hours until we're World Champs. With a conservative estimate of 11 PM end time, we are less than 8 hours from ending the drought officially.

I'm going down there at some point. If the bars are impossible to get into, I'll sit in my car with my buddies watching the game on my phone or something. But I have to be nearby for the end of the game. -
I was reading an article on greatest Game 7's today and it made me wonder why Gene Larkin's walkoff hit in the 1991 World Series is so underrated. When you hear about great World Series walkoffs you hear about Joe Carter, Edgar Renteria, Luis Gonzalez, Bill Mazeroski, Carlton Fisk, even Kirby Puckett the night before. Heck I couldn't have even told you who hit the walk off before I read the article. The story of that game was Jack Morris throwing 10 shutout innings for sure but a world series winning walkoff hit in Game 7 is about as magical a moment as it gets and its hardly talked about IMO.

You thought I shouldn't go because I might get my pocket picked (literally)?! And/or figuratively. I think it's a legitimate concern - thieves are opportunists. Personally, among the possible bad things that could happen in a extremely large crowd of emotional fans, being pickpocked is like right ahead of 'being barrelled over by a police horse' as things I'm least worried about.

I keep thinking of random Cubs related memories in my life...the time my dad picked me up from pre-school and surprised me by taking me to Opening Day, years later coming home from school and realizing that there was a Cubs game on that day, turning it on and seeing the last 2 innings of Woods 20k game, watching/listening to Harry call a meaningless summer afternoon game in the beautiful but aging ballpark, obsessively watching every game in 98 to see if Sammy would homer, and if he would watch the local newscast that night to see the highlights again, everything in 2001, 2003 and 2004, decent seasons that would fall short, watching the middling Hendry years where we could night find the winning combination as I started to understand advanced stats, the disapppointing 08 run, the many nights during the rebuilding years where i imagined what it would be like seeing the Cubs celebrate a World Series title, everything this season. I have gone through my entire life of Cub fandom, and realize there has always been this moment hanging over our heads, for better or worse, over all of those moments. It's all been building to this moment as a fan. It will never be the same again, and I for one am fine with going to the other side.

Me neither. Sounds like a great way for a player to risk getting injured before the regular season. Also a team-building killer for ST. Don't like no meaningful players go to the WBC anymore? Didn't the American team basically have like minor leaguers/role-players at best on the roster last time? This is an article on the preliminary roster for the US team that they submitted last month.
