  1. Weathers is the best pitcher in baseball. 10 IP, 2 ER this year against the Cubs
  2. Yep. And I saw Amaya set up outside and motion for Palencia to put the slider off the plate. I assumed it was either going to be ball 1 or he would chase and strike out. Instead it just hung there over the plate. Gah what a terrible loss. One that every team has every year but still doesn’t make it suck less
  3. seems like the 9th inning double that Tucker couldn’t get to was around a 50% catch probability. Looked like he just took a bad initial route to the ball otherwise he catches it and the Cubs win. Baseball is a game of inches.
  4. Apparently the game winning hit had the highest WPA of any hit in baseball this year. 83.1%
  5. With the news about Hodge I won’t critique him for that move as harshly. Needed to try to secure the win and there’s really not a ton of trustworthy relievers. You hope he gets a quick clean inning and you don’t need him the next 2 days because we’re winning by a bunch. Almost happened
  6. He’s made some good catches this year but also some times where I’ve wondered how he’s graded out as such a terrific fielder historically.
  7. But I mean Palencia pitched Friday, Saturday and warmed up Sunday. Seems like a weird time to try him out to close a 1 run game. that said it was 6-7-8 in the order and he was 1 strike from shutting them down in order. bottom line is there are no easy answers when you don’t have reliable bullpen guys.
  8. 0-2 2 outs no one on and he throws a hanging slider over the heart of the plate to the 8th place hitter and then walks the 9th hitter on 4 pitches. Unreal
  9. Tucker could have had that and palencia pitching 3rd time in 4 days and was warming up yesterday was bad.
  10. Ugh hanging 0-2 slider with 2 outs in the 9th. Time to sweat a bit
  11. I was just thinking about how good this offense could be once Tucker starts hitting again
  12. Seriously. What. The. horsefeathers. Why do you hate Seiya? is there a way to look up who has been screwed the most on incorrect calls this year?
  13. To be fair we had some pretty fortunate slides yesterday. Yes some of it was skill but there was a luck component too
  14. Oh I see the Cubs are winning again already. edit: never mind tied
  15. Umpire was calling a solid game but then Seiya had to get his obligatory ball called a strike.
  16. This dude is really sharp. He keeps hitting the corners perfectly and then getting them with breaking pitches. Gonna be tough to score edit: never mind Amaya just homered and the Cubs lead
  17. I don't know why we seem to be giving up on pitchers super quickly on this board. Ben Brown has just pitched his 100th MLB inning and his ERA coming into today for his career was just over 4.00. At this best he looks pretty electric but I think he's still figuring out how to harness his stuff.
