  1. Call me a curmudgeon but I hate how they wear these holiday uniforms for like 4 straight days for every holiday. Wear them on the holiday only imo
  2. I was really hoping that they'd swap Lester and Monty and have Lester pitch that Milwaukee game. Yes it's too early to be matching up rotations or whatever but it gives Lester and extra day of rest and has our best pitcher a chance in what is a 2 game swing in the standings Oh and Schwarber Fan get your horsefeathers together
  3. Could be playing coy for some reason but... [tweet] [/tweet]
  4. Anytime you can get someone who started in the previous year's World Series for loud mouth backup catcher you have to do it.
  5. From what to what
  6. My whole reason for trading butler was to acquire future picks and assets that could land a superstar along with usable assets instead of just the superstar 2 years from FA. I recognize we might not get the superstar but we had to do something because we were painted in a corner imo. We got some assets in a good young player with no chance of being as good as Butler whose best trait is athleticism but is coming off a torn ACL and is a year away from making more money than Butler. Then a 23 year old PG who was the worst shooter in the league last year as well as the 7th pick whose comp is Niko Mirotic. Has a higher ceiling but not a superstar ceiling imo. We got no future picks, in fact gave up a first, we have no assets that could be as good as Jimmy. Yes we are now bad enough to make our future 1st round picks high enough for a superstar but bottom line is that I don't think we gave up enough to justify trading a top 12 player. I also don't necessarily agree that we were not going to get as much in the future for him. Teams in the past have given up a premium at the deadline for a missing piece and you can probably get lotto picks at a better value because it's pre-draft lottery. Anyways if this was the best we could get for butler I would have held on to him for now at least
  7. Member of Team Tank speaking to say that I agree
  8. Here are my issues regarding Dunn: -He was the absolute worst shooter in the league in terms of eFG%. I'm sure he won't be as bad with a lot more PT but that's 300 shots of sample size. -He was a redshirt junior meaning he was in college for 4 seasons meaning he was old for a rookie, particularly a lottery pick. He's older 9 months older than Giannis and roughly the same age as guys like Marcus Smart, Elfrid Payton, Gary Harris. it's not like he's some 20 year old one and done guy with lots of development to go. Sure he has room to improve but I don't see a lot of evidence of there being a star hiding in there. We'll see
  9. Bryant one of the 5 candidates for last man vote. Has the 3rd best fWAR of the candidates but I bet he's voted in
  10. Wade Davis is the Cubs default all star. Yeah it's nice that our guys would get rest but kind of crazy that the defending WS champs only have 1 all star and it's not a guy who was on the team when they won the World Series. It will be the Joe Maddon show in Miami Can't believe lamb made it over Bryant.
  11. Jake looking like a solid number 3. When his stuff is on he can look great but other starts he just doesn't have it and can struggle. How Hendricks pitches when he comes back could make a huge difference for the Cubs. IIRC he was pitching pretty well before the injury after a slow start. If you can count on him as a co-ace with Lester and get a quality starter at the deadline and jettison Lackey to the sun all the sudden the Cubs rotation is looking pretty tough again.
  12. Glad we scored 1 but come on guys. Need to string together some hits with runners on like normal teams do on occasion
  13. Cubs are really efficient in their out committing lately
  14. Dammit Addy should have tried to score there with 2 outs and Jake up. I'm a meatball though because I recognize he probably would have been thrown out
  15. Happ is a serial killer.... of baseballs
  16. I predict bryant and Davis make ASG and Rizzo makes the final vote
  17. So we all know what teams have used the shift the most and how much success they've had...are there any stats that show what teams have been affected the most by the shift?
  18. 1st: Javy, Soler, Alcantara 2nd: Bryant, Russell, Schwarbs 3rd: Contreras, Almora 4th: Happ, Caratini, Candy Definitely peaked with the second wave. So based on what year they debut in. Yeah peaked with the 2nd wave but crazy to keep churning out above average regulars in each of the past 4 seasons
  19. What would you consider the first wave vs the second wave? 1st wave: Javy, Bryant, Russell, Schwarber, Soler 2nd wave: Contreras, Happ, Almora, Caratini, Candelario Not asking for any particular reason, just game day chatter
  20. 2005 Cubs through 81 games: 40-41 2009 Cubs through 81 games: 41-40 Doesn't mean anything but yeah
  21. This team spoiled us the last 2 seasons so a .500ish team is about as exciting as a 90 loss team
