  1. Is Shaw going to be a gold glover or is he just very good?
  2. Of course we didn’t score ugh 2 runs on 8 hits in our last 19 innings
  3. At the very least the Nico, Shaw and Happ at bats took a tool on Wheeler's pitch count. Looking more like a 6 inning outing rather than a 7 or 8 inning one.
  4. Ahh I’m gonna sound like a dick here so I’ll just say upfront that I still fully believe in Caleb and can’t wait to see him make the leap under Ben Johnson. But the whole 3600/20/6 thing sounds nice on the surface but in reality he finished 28th in QBR, 30th in PAA, 28th in RAW (explanation on stats at bottom of link), 28th in YPA, 27th in completion % and had 19 turnover worthy plays (71st in NFL, guessing this includes all skill positions). A lot wasn’t his fault, bad coaching, bad line, conservative play calling (Being made into a WR screen pass merchant killed his numbers but also probably prevented some turnovers). Some of it was his fault and you’d expect it to improve in year 2. There are also some very encouraging things we saw from him, particularly in 2 minute drills when he could just play freely and balled out. So ultimately I don’t think we should be greatly concerned or anything but I don’t like the characterization that Caleb low key had a good season. He had a decent season with some red flags and a lot of caveats IMO.
  5. It's 3 games in June, there's really nothing to take from it. If the Cubs won all 3 games by 8 runs wed be more excited but it'd be the same conclusion drawn from it.
  6. Runs scored the last 5 games: 0 7 1 6 0 we eating tomorrow
  7. Guess we saved all our offense for 1 game in the series
  8. Now thankful we didn’t sign Bregman. Bregman might be better in the short term but establishing Shaw AND having (hopefully) $20+ million to spend at the deadline is a big win.
  9. I don’t remember it being that frustrating, mostly due to coming off 6 straight non playoff seasons. It was refreshing to see them playing above .500 baseball led by all the young talent. Though obviously when they took off mid-season it was a whole new level of fun.
  10. At least it was an entertaining one with a big game feel to it. Hate seeing people from Detroit happy about anything though.
  11. Wish there was a way to get Busch up for Hoerner. Love Nico but down 2 with 2 outs in the 9th and a runner on 1st is not where you want to see the powerless guy hit
  12. He’s out but that was almost a passing the torch moment with PCA Javying Javy
  13. I was just thinking that as crushing as this loss would be. Great pitching performance, managed to hang in against Skubal enough to turn the tide on him, were felled by 600 perfect plays by the Tigers
  14. So in that inning the Cubs got 3 hits and hit a ball that went enough distance for a home run and managed to score 0 runs.
  15. Seriously there’s a world where the Cubs are up 7-1 right now even though per baseball savant the tigers have a better xBA tonight
  16. What the horsefeathers are the tigers an entire team of Pete crow Armstrongs?
  17. Get rid of Skubal and bring in a guy with a 1.80 ERA and 0.97 WHIP this year. Fun
  18. horsefeathers hell, feels like they have gotten nearly every break tonight. Perfect through and of course a single right after that. edit: and another hit after that
  19. Ben Brown is why you can’t blindly assume that facing a 5+ ERA pitcher means you’re gonna tee off on him. After this performance his ERA is still at 5.37 for the year.
