Losing this game sucks too because it gives the season series to the Phillies. Obviously we're all looking at the division and rightfully so, but if we do drop into the WC fray we're competing with a team like the Phillies for a spot.
I was just thinking that Tucker hasn’t been great over the past few weeks and when I went to look it up he has an OPS around .800 over his last 40 games. Even his less amazing stretches are pretty damn good. But that was a terrible K in that situation.
You know the Cubs are having a good season when usernames I’ve never seen before or haven’t seen much in years are popping up to panic about the team after a couple tough games.
I know I can overreact at times too but pretty chill about this overall. Eventually you just watch enough baseball seasons to recognize that this horsefeathers happens every year to almost every team.
But if they lose tomorrow I’m throwing an epic tantrum!
Of course the Cardinals hit a 3 run HR to take the lead in the 8th. Looks like the lead is down to 3 (not that standings matter in June just annoying cap to an annoying few days and its becoming more and more likely that this run by the Cardinals is not a fluke)
edit nvm I didn't see they tied it again
Feel like 70% of the time when the Cubs take the lead in extras in the road they blow the lead and/or lose the game in the bottom half. I know that’s not the case but seems to happen a lot
The .500 team record is silly. The Diamondbacks and Rangers played in the World Series 2 years ago with a combined record of 82-95 against teams above .500 in the regular season. The season before the Phillies made the World Series after a 32-47 record against above .500 teams. The regular season is weird and long and is why you need 162 games to allow the best team to emerge as much as possible.
