I'm starting to wonder if the Cubs could have a really eccentric pitching staff approach next season. We have a lot of serviceable 4-5 type SPs, and some of them have pretty heinous R-L splits. Maddon seems like he would be the type to do some kind of piggyback/match-up system where if matchups keep falling one way or the other, he could use a guy in long relief or as a loogy in the meantime. Even if it didn't work it would be fun to follow. I like Wada just fine, but the price seems kinda steep...maybe I won't think that after the free agent season gets going. -
I've heard a lot of absurd things this year, and even outside the topic of baseball, this is the most absurd.

Well, we just got Turner for practically nothing so we are actually kinda close to being able to say "screw pitching" with something approaching confidence. Arrieta, Wood, Hendricks, Wada, Turner, Jackson, Straily, Doubront, Grimm. Parts of that make a rotation that could maybe be league average in a lucky year? One decent arm away from actually league average. -

Just because this thread is overly positive, the clouds are rolling in and they don't look friendly. The good thing is it looks like the worst of it should be over by game time, according to weather guessers.

The Rockies announcers just spent 4 minutes wondering why Valbuena was not bunting. One of the two almost seemed angry. "He on;y has 5 sac bunts in his entire career as a super-utility player?!!! Dawson will probably always be my fav, but some lesser-remembered guys would include: Michael Barrett (because he punched zynski in the face, best part of that season by a lot) Rick Wilkins (because of that one year) Geovany Soto (basically every catcher that could muster an OPS over .650 was a fav) Matt Murton (because of stats and stuff) Chuck McElroy (no idea) -
