  1. Is Quade just tossing a coin or something? I really don't understand a majority of his switches or lack of one.
  2. Soto hit that as hard as a ball can be hit. How on earth did that stay in?
  3. I think Wood and Soto were laughing about that strike 3 call.
  4. I could have sworn we had a lot of lefties in the pen that we could use for one batter...I don't know about this Quade guy anymore.
  5. Someone should send Len an e mail about know it all kids.
  6. I still don't get why Fukudome and DeWitt weren't hitting there. Why have lefties on the bench when you won't use them? Seriously. It isn't like those two players are going to be hurting for days off this season...as if that should matter anyways. Another game like this from Quade and...and I don't know. WTF.
  7. Why would you say something like that? Honestly. Because it was exactly what was on most of our minds, I bet. There is a huge gigantic difference between thinking something and saying something, and if it is something we are all thinking already, its not really adding to the convo is it?
  8. I could have stomached Ojeda as the back up SS for a couple of months just to delay the clock on Barney, but I think you are over estimating the importance of defence and Barney's bat if you think its about a wash between him and Baker on their side of the platoon. If you think so little of Barney why on earth are you worried about starting the clock on him? Besides which, he was up last season so he was going to burn an option anyway. Jeff Baker career vs. RHP - .244/.300/.378. He's also a about a +4 defender in the field. Barney I see as a .270/.315/.335 type, maybe a bit better if the work at camp colvin paid off. He was supposedly a plus defensive shortstop, so I'd guess he's in the +6 to +10 range at 2B. Where should I be seeing something to get upset about? My mistake on the clock, but I would much rather see him at SS and no where near.....WHOO COLVIN!!!! the 2 spot. If he's seeing playing time and looks at the top of the order to shop him for a trade since Castro is blocking his potential, then I wouldn't be upset.
  9. In other news, I just saw footage of Fuld playing LF. What is up with the Rays?
  10. What is the record for most triples hit by a 21 year old SS in one game in April?
  11. So you really think Barney is our best option at 2B right now, or are you just playing devil's advocate? I am mostly upset that they brought him up at all to start the season and especially upset he is hitting second. Barney was going to be on this team at the start of the season regardless. He's the only person we've got capable of backing up Castro at SS. We could have went to Augie Ojeda, but I think everybody can agree that really doesn't seem like an upgrade. As to the question of whether I think Barney is our best option at 2B, I'm willing to say I don't know. I honestly don't see any one of Barney/Baker/DeWitt as being obviously better than the others. I'll let the Cubs try to sort it out, knowing that the difference between the best of the three and the worst of the three is probably less than a single win over a full season. I'm not happy he's batting 2nd though. If you're gonna go with a guy just because of his glove, you don't bat him at the top of the order. I could have stomached Ojeda as the back up SS for a couple of months just to delay the clock on Barney, but I think you are over estimating the importance of defence and Barney's bat if you think its about a wash between him and Baker on their side of the platoon.
  12. How many tries at "Cubby gummy bears" would it take you before you said a complete disaster over the air?
  13. I don't hate Barney at all. I just don't think his being even half of a platoon at 2B incrases the Cubs chances or winning a lot of ballgames, let alone him batting in the 2 spot. He is a very soft hitting great gloved SS and yes, that is Quade's fault. Still, anything to get him out of this position I am all for. Who is better? Probably every actual 2B we have in the system through AA (and DeWitt)? And probably most of the waiver wire types floating around. I think even some of the more optimistic projections for Barney well into the future has his bat as league average or worse as a 2B. Baker is probably about equal to Barney against righties on offense, and a bit worse on defense. DeWitt is a bit more impressive on offense, but is significantly worse on defense. About the only real guy in the system that might represent an immediate upgrade is Marquez Smith, and that's if and only if his defense at 2B isn't atrocious. Given his extremely limited playing time, I'm betting it is. So you really think Barney is our best option at 2B right now, or are you just playing devil's advocate? I am mostly upset that they brought him up at all to start the season and especially upset he is hitting second.
  14. Has Soto really looked that bad? I recall some scorchers hit right at people. I mean today. They both fouled out in their first at bats now they both hit shallow/infield flies with a runner on 3rd and 2nd with zero/one out. Ah, my mistake. ...this Tabata character seems kinda good at baseball. Think we can get him in a trade for a group of AAAA players?

  16. Why the hate? Dude's worked hard to be where he is now. Even if it's for only a week or two, I think it's great that the Cubs organization is rewarding a hard offseason workout program and dramatic improvement at the plate during ST. I don't hate Barney at all. I just don't think his being even half of a platoon at 2B incrases the Cubs chances or winning a lot of ballgames, let alone him batting in the 2 spot. 18. Is it possible for Barney to have 3 or so errors along with all Ks or GIDPs and for the Cubs to still win? That's what I'm rooting for regardless.
  19. When Quade was doing and saying cool things in the Spring, what did you think the chances Barney would be hitting 2nd in the first series without any significant injuries would be? 10000 to 1? Only 500 to 1?
  20. Hold on a second...you are saying the Cubs won a game thanks to its stopper Carlos Silva, preventing them from getting swept in Pittsburgh for the year? LOL. How gullible can you be? This season is obviously a fake.
  21. Do you think anyone athlete on Earth is more sick of Slapshot references than Hanrahan? Also, Roenick's Slapshot reference last night was spot on.
  22. As long as Soto doesn't stay at 8 on ARam's days off while Chad Tracy hits 5th, I suppose it's not a problem. Oh wait Catcher hits 8th, dood. Yeah, when I saw that line up with Tracy at 5th I don't know why I was surprised, but I was. Just have to laugh, I guess.
  23. I think the fact it is not getting much attention is only because it was OVERLY represented previously.
