go ahead isn't he? Brian you should know all about CUBS karma by now.....or are you a young CUBS fan? sorrysorrysorry I PROMISE TO NEVER TEMPT FATE AGAIN Just remember it's the CUBS. What can go wrong usually does go wrong. If you google murphy's law you will see a CUBS logo... that plus the fact that the memory of that night wrecks my nerves everytime, probably will until there is a championship on the northside again....plus i quit smoking today so im a tad on the irratable side That's almost as silly as saying "I quit heroin two minutes ago!" i smoke 1 1/2 a day and i havent had a single smoke since 2:30 am it is not silly if you said that to my face i'd squeeze your neck till your eyes pop out...bite me!!! You said you were irritable? ...the heroin comparison only rings more true now... -
I thought we went over this 8 or so times in this thread... I was on my way home from campus during the previous several pages... I guess I missed something. Falls in the tempting fate catagory...

Murton: Takes pitches, quiet guy, clutch as all get out, preforms at every level despite not being high on prospect lists...sound like a guy with a number 23 on his back (not MJ)? Damn I love Murton!

Fast forward the same situation 5 innings. Why does one run later mean more than one run now? A run is a run; I'll take one in whatever inning I can get it in. Do you know that there's a better chance of a runner scoring from first with none out than it is for a runner to score from 2nd with 1 out? At the time of the bunt, the Cubs had 18 outs to score 1 run. In the 9th, which was 5 innings later....the Cubs would be down to their last chance to score in order to win it in 9 innings. I think the point to be made here is that its easier to score 2 or 3 runs with a man on 1st and no outs than it is to score 2 or 3 with one out and a man on second. That's what makes the sac bunt not so hot.

Damn, you took my guess. I'm going to go out on a limb and say one of the three will happen: He gets a walk on his final AB of the season (most likely of the three) He somehow winds up with negative two walks (second most likely to happen) Niefi gets no walks during the season, but in the playoffs his 2 out, bases loaded walk sends the Cubs to the world series (slightly less likely than the negative two walks)

According to the Royals fans on their MLB board, Sweeney might be on the DL before Lee is off it: One of the Sweened trade to Cubs threads And I agree with Hairston at 2nd and TWalk at 1st. Wow. Prior and a prospect for Sweeney!? Pie and Cedeno?!? Jesus. More delusional than the Cubs.com posters in Royal land...and probably for good reason. One of the few teams close to as frustrating to watch as the Cubs. I'm still laughing about both of those trade ideas.

If you are more concern about Eyre being injuried than Lee...then I don't know what to say. -
This might have been mentioned before, but did anyone notice Furcal lightly colliding shins with Lee on a close play at first earlier in the series? Or was it someone else? Or am I making this up?

That event really changed my life...for the worse. But it does make a REALLY good drunken story. I always work "refried bean consistency" into it. Vivid adjectives and details make the story. ...maybe I should have waited until I had 10,000 posts to mention this stuff.
