  2. At least from now on, whenever I see some replay of the Bartman thing, I'm going to hear "People train runs outta...(snort)...Stubbville" in my head. Thanks NSBB!

  4. I've heard that both Stanton and Harper are old souls.
  5. It seems like two weeks ago that I was trying to pump myself up about a full year of Coughlan and Wada, and now we are talking about Cargo in addition to everything that just happened the last two days. SO sick.

  7. I'll go with the obvious http://www.judao.com.br/8/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/gob-final-countdown.gif
  8. I would steer you toward Delanie Walker or Niles Paul at TE. Maybe Donnell if you have some more cash to burn. I do like either Beckham or Stills at WR though. With the price difference, I don't see why you would take Gronk over Graham.
  9. The biggest difference between the two is that Draftkings uses PPR for their NFL contests, while FanDuel doesn't. The amount that is taken out as rake for head-to-head matchups is the same. The overlay on tournaments is fairly similar from what I have heard, but if anything DraftKings might have more value because of not quite as much participation in guaranteed tournaments. Someone that I know who has been winning on both sites has had a higher win rate on DraftKings, but that could be for any number of reasons. I wouldn't be surprised if the PPR site is easier money just because people see a cheap Gore or Morris and jump on it without adjusting to the rules properly. Not sure about the differences in bonuses and frequent player points.
  10. Hello all, After seeing just how many fantasy posts this place has, I was curious if there were any degenerates that hang here and play on draftkings/fanduel. I just started playing on DraftKings for NFL only at about week 4 and it has been so far so good. In fact, good enough that I was thinking of taking up MLB when the season comes around. So yeah, this is basically a poll/plea for advice.
  11. Is Kenny Roger's brother in the NFL now?
  12. Sorry to be a downer: http://nesn.com/2014/11/john-farrell-doubles-down-on-support-of-yoenis-cespedes-hes-our-guy-video/
  13. For one year of Latos coming off an injury that caused him to miss half of 2014. Good god no. I'd think Edwards and Vogelbach would be enough. No money, no Alcantara. ...and I still don't think I'd do it without some kind of awesome extension contract.
  14. I'd lay 25:1. Come on, man! I was hoping to get my money in good! Normally if I'm hoping for a 80:1 outcome (which I think it is closer to), I'd consider it dreaming.
  15. yep. As long as we are dreaming, let's follow that up with Bosio fixing Turner, Straily, and Doubront, and we actually start trading #4 SPs (preferably to the Mets, for ironical purposes) signing guys you can afford is not dreaming or magically fixing bad pitchers I'll lay 15:1 we don't sign Scherzer and Lester.

  17. The short answer is no, you probably aren't the only one. The longer answer is you should be the only one because passing on guys today in hopes of getting others guys a year from now is a great way to not get any guys. ...I'm not advocating getting no one. no one of consequence If McCarthy is now no one of consequence, then I think maybe expectations are a touch too high. He's better than all of our current SPs save Arrieta. What are you talking about?
  18. Also, I haven't seen any estimates on what Hyeon-jong Yang is likely to fetch. He'll be posted this off season.
  19. Because Price is better than Lester and I'm too jaded to think that our team will be good enough to win the Central as young as we are going to be next year? I'm also operating under the assumption that Theo has some kind of cap. If we can sign Scherzer and Lester and Shields and Price then sure, let's get them all. If I have to chose I'll take Price. Eh. They're pretty similar and Lester is like a year and a half older so the difference in age isn't much. Combine that with the opportunity cost in harming your 2015 chances to compete, and it's no brainer what is a better outcome, IMO. That's without even getting into salary. Maybe Price makes a lot more, too. Sure, it always depends on what kind of deal you sign each player at. I wouldn't mind paying 2-4 mil a year more for Price than Lester. I would just as nearly like signing Scherzer right now, but I don't allow myself that much hope. I do think we wind up with Lester.

  21. Trying is scary because it carries with it the possibility of failure. Basking in the glow of perpetual but vaguely defined progress is more fun. I won't pretend that isn't partly true.

  23. Am I the only one that would like to see us pass on Lester and Shields (would be fine with Scherzer, but doubt we spend the cash for him), get guys like McCarthy and Brett Anderson/Josh Johnson, and make a big push for Price and Maeda next year, instead? (Assuming Maeda isn't posted this offseason)
  24. Wada put up .8fWAR in 69 1/3IP last year to go with a 3.75FIP and 3.96xFIP. I fail to see how 4M is steep. Considering injury history and age, yeah, I thought he could be had for less...(don't forget the incentives, which I'd assume kick in if he has anything close to a repeat of his 2014 numbers.) But after hearing the rumors of what Shields is going to cost, I reserve the right to change my mind and in a hurry.
