  1. That return against Duke was great even though they can't tackle
  2. One more thing, when Hester caught the ball, he could have downed it in the end zone and got the ball at the 40 right? What happened if he ran it out - if he got tackled would the Bears get the ball where he was tackled? Lovie in today's press conference said that they always run the missed FG play. They wait three seconds and then Hester is supposed to run it back. He said the Bears always score on it during practice. Then he busted out laughing. So I am confused. Did he want Hester to wait a few seconds and then run it out or what?
  3. I know Vasher ran around more, but Hester still ran 108 yards about 10 seconds faster than him
  4. Did Mark Anderson get any time in yesterday?
  5. For me it was sticking it in Hoculi's face. The guy obviously hates the Bears. Up yours, Ed. What was his problem? That manufactured call against Briggs, picked up the holding on Gilmore - good call yet, Ed and his crew missed Daneial Manning having his jersey ripped from his shoulder pads during Barber' long 3rd quarter run. I've never seen a worse game called from an offensive holding standpoint. After the Giants' tackle went down, the replacement was horse-collaring Alex on every play. Seriously: EVERY PLAY. That's holding, and it's Ed's call since he's the guy who stands back behind the line. He was letting it happen all damn night until the 4th quarter. That's just unacceptable. And then to hear Madden call him the best. It made me sick. The guy is just a horrible, horrible ref. But you have to admit that Madden did call them out on the bad horsecollaring call on...was it Briggs?
  6. Do the Cubs know if Wood pursued any other offers? Were there any other offers?
  7. So he went to bed at 9 PM on game nights. The evidence is that his muscles got enormous in a short amount of time (some say that the weight training and proper diet helped) and that once the MLB started testing his numbers went way down. Now there is no hard evidence, but Sammy cheated with the corked bat so it wouldn't surprise me that he cheated with steroids. He is right that the hard evidence isn't there. Did he ever have back acne?
  8. I completely agree with you. Pitching wins championships. So does hitting. Don't even start that garbage again. nevermind the team's offense is completely irrelevant when october hits I never said that. I was only referring to the post that said the Cubs don't have to worry about pitching if they have the hitters they want. I would like a balanced club, but if it had to sway one way I would rather be pitching-heavy.
  9. well, when "take your chances with pitching" means zambrano, hill, prior, miller, prospects, and a solid bullpen, i'm willing to do it. when "take your chances with pitching" means the reds, i'm not. Hill is young and unproven. A 4th of 5th starter? Sure. Prior and Miller havent pitched a full season in two years. Prospects - well did any impress you at the end of last year? you really think we're picking up 3 new starters to push hill all the way back to 5, and the rest to bonus? i'd be pretty shocked if that happened even if we didn't sign any of those guys on offense. Not three starters. But one upper tier FA pitcher is needed.
  10. fortunately weaver and suppan are both FA's. i'm assuming you'd want to sign them both. I wouldn't mind Suppan
  11. yeah, what a failure all those division championships with a 50 mil payroll have been. obp....yuck! He certainly did the best with what he had. I was meaning to say that Beane is pretty darn good. If he had 100 million, he would have had a championship or two by now.

  13. Problem is that Beane has been having a love affair with OBP that has resulted in many illegitimate playoff runs (I really don't know what that means). Jones=bad OBP.
  14. Even dropping Jones is addition by subtraction
  15. I gotta say something when someone says take your chances with the pitching
  16. Ben Wallace took the night off. He should pay the Bulls back for tonight's game. It's early man. It's early. But the Bullt have no inside scoring. That is a problem. That's why the Illini couldn't beat Carolina. You can't win a championship without any inside offensive presence whatsoever.
  17. No don't take your chances pitching wise. Pitching wins championships. Ask the Yankess what happened to them a few weeks ago.
  18. If he plays this inconsistent I won't care. Thabo can get to the basket and draw fouls. Already a better defensive player than Ben. But it's still early with Thabo but I like what I see.
  19. I only saw parts of the game. I thought Tyrus only got in at the end. I guess not. What happened outside of the last few minutes?
  20. I never realized the great OBP that Drew has had over his career. His career average is .390 and he has had a bunch of years over .400. Jones only had on OBP is .330 last year. That's 70 points. So what do you do with Jacque? 4th outfielder?
  21. I realize it was garbage time, but Tyrus looks good. Plenty of energy and a great leaping ability. I heard he is having trouble breathing with the mask. I hope he gets more quality minutes. Nice work Thabo also. Paxson had a great draft.
  22. I like the one where Haray says "Pop up to Ray Sanchez. He'd never miss one of these." Then Steve pipes in, "Harry I think he just dropped it." Harry says, "Well what do you know, he did."
  23. Was this loss really all that bad for the Bears? As long as they get home field for the playoffs I am happy. The Bears needed to be humbled and they relieved themselves of the pressure of trying to have a perfect season. Now they just might lose four in a row though.
