  1. What is the combined chance that the Bulsl get the first or second pick?I'd take Oden or Durant in a heartbeat.
  2. The Cubs have two of the three best hitters for average in the NL (Lee and Ramirez). They have only hit three homers I think. That will come with time. They are near the bottom as a team in hitting for average though.
  3. The Bulls need an inside presence. Besides Oden and picking up Garnett or Gasol, who can give them that?
  4. Is there any chance that Paxson decides not to switch picks with the Knicks?
  5. As of right now if the Bulls land in second place ESPN has them playing the Nets. Is that correct?
  6. The Bulls have had the right to swap picks with the Knicks all season. NY could win out -- they won't -- and their pick still belongs to the Bulls. Right. But all teams that miss the playoffs get in the lottery right? I am more concerned with the lottery pick.
  7. If the Knicks lose tonight and one other game the Bulls have the option of getting their lottery pick right?
  8. Because the big money guys that the Cubs got pitch lots of innings, have ERA's in the low 3's, and combine for over 40 holds. Wait...
  9. the difference being that some starters fail because they don't have the stamina, or don't have three good pitches... and other starters fail because they just aren't good enough to pitch in the big leagues. Forward to jimhendry@tribune.com I still thought Eyre and Howry were the two best relievers that the Cubs could have acquired last year. The pen can still be filled out with farm system guys and cheaper players. It's not like you can't have both. It's early folks. It's early enough that Marquis still has a low ERA. C'mon now!
  10. Well can he hit? I remember in Bonds' heyday he had the second highest HR/Ab ratio.
  11. Every reliever is a failed starter somewhere along the line
  12. Honestly, the strike zone was unfair for the Cubs. I think there was only one bad call for the Astros that I saw, a high and inside strike to Lee late in the game. The Cubs hit the ball solidly but right at people. When they hit it softly they found holes. Soriano about gets picked off every time he is on base. Jones can throw now. Unfortunately he is terribly inaccurate. Hester threw out the first pitch and sang in the seventh. It was his first MLB game ever.
  13. They both pitched relatively well last year. Give them some time. I am all for spending big money on middle relievers if they pitch well. A World Series caliber team needs them. Now spending money on pinch hitters like Ward who had one decent year is another story (I do realize he wasn't as expensive as the relievers).
  14. That pitch was right down the middle for ball four
  15. Wow they really booed Lee. They booed so loudly Woody Williams turned around.
  16. Naturally for those who don't have cable in Chicago the games will be aired on regular tv correct? No HD feed, are you kidding me?
  17. My thoughts: 1. Johnny Estrada is now a very large man 2. Z seemed to be dropping down quite a bit today. If his slider wasn't below average and he could develop a straight change he would be unhittable. Has Rothschild tried to help him develop one more pitch? 3. It seems that a bunch of MLB players wear the necklace/chain that Murton and Howry wear? What is that thing?
  18. I saw Aramis really hustling to first base on his hit in the first inning. If Lou can get more out of him Aramis can really be a beast.
  19. A little off tangent, but how much does Hnedry make? Less than Piniella?
  20. From cnnsi: One NFL team owner I know told me that he has it on good authority that Adam "Pacman'' Jones only leaves his house these day accompanied by an off-duty police officer whom he employs as a bodyguard. "He fears for his life at this point,'' the owner said. "He won't even leave his house without that protection. And it wasn't a club-imposed idea. He feels he has become a target for trouble of sorts.'' Let's see: Jones does his little rain thing, punches a stripper in the face, gets yelled at by a bouncer, and then shots ring out. But he is a target? The funny thing is that the mayor of Las Vegas said that after the NBA All-Star game he felt the city's image was tarnished becuase of this and other occurrences. Wow!
  21. Was the Sosa homer off of Urbina in the 9th the one that almost hit the camera in left-center?
  22. Briggs insisted last year's deal was for 7 years and not 6 on the radio. Who knows.
  23. And UK is going to give him his 1.5 million dollar bonus April 2
