  1. Sabbathia is a Cy Young winner. And is only under contract for 3 more months. How long has it been since the Cubs won? Who cares if we lose Sabbathia if that brings them closer to a WS which it will. Yes, it will bring us closer to a World Series for one season, then hurt our chances over the next several years. I think we have a better chance of winning a World Series in the next 5 years if we don't "go for it" to that extreme. I think people aren't realizing how bad our pen could be without a good Marmol anyways. The NL is down this year and the Cubs are up. After you have waited for 100 years why wait more when it is right there for the taking this year? Do Cub fans learn anything from history? You never know how short the windown can be. Ask the Bears.

  3. That rule should be changed. If the reliever gives up the lead and his team scores to retake it, the win should go to the most effective pitcher like it does it other circumstances, i.e. Dempster.
  4. I would in a heartbeat. Sabbathia is a Cy Young winner. Marmol is great, but not a Cy Young candidate. Are you crazy? What, you trade a very young and dominant relief pitcher just because he has a couple of bad weeks? No, because you are getting a Cy Young pitcher in return. Marmol is great and I wouldn't trade him because he has hit a rough patch, but because it is for C.C. It is easier to get a top-shelf reliever to make up for Marmol than to get a Cy Young type pitcher.
  5. I want to blame Marmol's struggles on Lou's overuse of him, but his velocity has been there. Yes he has been erratic, but on the pitches recently (not counting today's) the pitches were decent pitches and the hitters just beat him.

  7. Man I'd still be on the ground. Please, no more injuries.
  8. Or was it Lowell? That was a bad call with the slumping Varitek at bat.
  9. Did his wife have the baby yet? Induced labor?
  10. He was out on the tag! But he could have made it.
  11. Fukudome actually does hit lefties decently. .288 .386
  12. He really seems to be pulling off the ball. What are his splits vs. lefties?
  13. Oh my. He's out of control. Please get Stained off WGN.
  14. He has definitely given that outside pitch tonight. Marquis got that in the first and second inning. Soto thought it was a ball and went out to talk to Marquis to settle him down. But that is 4-5 inches outside.
  15. Seriously! I think Jay Williams talked to him after he was signed by the Bulls. Hopefully Rose is smarter than Williams was.
  16. Not sure if this has been posted, but on April 29 Rose was caught driving over 100 mph in the Chicago area in a 65. His court date is soon and he could be put in jail for a year. Luckily, for first time offenders he will get a fine and driving school. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-derrick-rose-bothjul02,0,229117.story
  17. Would Zell allow the Cubs to spend and get someone before the trading deadline? He has been a tightwad, but a Cubs team who wins the WS would be worth significantly more than originally thought.
  18. Sometimes hitters don't want to know what is coming. I think Lee is like that.
  19. Yeah, but he doesn't hustle. Actually, he is hustling now!
  20. He might be better at his sport than MJ was when it is all said and done. For Michael, he had teammakes to pass to. For Tiger, it is him vs. every other guy out there.
  21. Maybe he isn't genuine, but he sure seems to be having fun with the Cubs. When he hit that game-tying homerun earlier in the week, he seemed pretty excited. I wouldn't be happy for him if he was hitting .179, but it is a little easier for me to like when when he looks like he is enjoying himself.
