  1. Was this common knowledge that Prior had problems with his mechanics prior to the draft? I heard that he wasn't perfect and that a few issues were noticeable, but only after he began having arm troubles.
  2. I really don't know if that was a joke or not. Joe Borowski throws 85 with his fastball. End of argument.
  3. As I said earlier, that rule should be changed. Dempster should get the win. What is the circumstance where the win is up to the scorer? When the starter goes less than 5, is behind, a new pitcher comes in, and the team goes on to win?
  4. Lewis doesn't have a prayer. Curve here and he's gone.
  5. Sabbathia is a Cy Young winner. And is only under contract for 3 more months. How long has it been since the Cubs won? Who cares if we lose Sabbathia if that brings them closer to a WS which it will. Yes, it will bring us closer to a World Series for one season, then hurt our chances over the next several years. I think we have a better chance of winning a World Series in the next 5 years if we don't "go for it" to that extreme. I think people aren't realizing how bad our pen could be without a good Marmol anyways. The NL is down this year and the Cubs are up. After you have waited for 100 years why wait more when it is right there for the taking this year? Do Cub fans learn anything form history? Yes, I've learned that "going for it" and giving yourself one chance to win it rarely works out. And what does 100 years have to do with anything? I'm sick of that argument. Like I said, I'd rather have multiple chances to win it over the next several years then just getting one big shot this season. I want to win one, period. Spreading your chances out over multiple years gives the Cubs a better chance to win a championship. It is really hard to win multiple championships from the Cubs' perspective, especially so because the AL is better. The 100 years argument just shows that you can't count on next year. There could be injuries, the league could improve... But if the Cubs could sign C.C., they would markedly improve their chances for this season and plenty to come.

  8. That rule should be changed. If the reliever gives up the lead and his team scores to retake it, the win should go to the most effective pitcher like it does it other circumstances, i.e. Dempster.
  9. I would in a heartbeat. Sabbathia is a Cy Young winner. Marmol is great, but not a Cy Young candidate. Are you crazy? What, you trade a very young and dominant relief pitcher just because he has a couple of bad weeks? No, because you are getting a Cy Young pitcher in return. Marmol is great and I wouldn't trade him because he has hit a rough patch, but because it is for C.C. It is easier to get a top-shelf reliever to make up for Marmol than to get a Cy Young type pitcher.
  10. I want to blame Marmol's struggles on Lou's overuse of him, but his velocity has been there. Yes he has been erratic, but on the pitches recently (not counting today's) the pitches were decent pitches and the hitters just beat him.

  12. Man I'd still be on the ground. Please, no more injuries.
  13. Or was it Lowell? That was a bad call with the slumping Varitek at bat.
  14. Did his wife have the baby yet? Induced labor?
  15. He was out on the tag! But he could have made it.
  16. Fukudome actually does hit lefties decently. .288 .386
  17. He really seems to be pulling off the ball. What are his splits vs. lefties?
  18. Oh my. He's out of control. Please get Stained off WGN.
