    I would have benched Olsen for the rest of the game after the second fumble, but Lovie ran him right out there on the next drive. Then he got ran over while trying to block.

    Where the heck was Tommie Harris today? He got paid, and has been silent so far. If he is hurt, he shouldn't be on the field. Let him heal, and then get him out there.

    Orton has to be able to get more accurate on the deep ball. I know it was windy, but if you can't throw deep, the backs will play right on our receivers, and we will soon have no passing game.

    Good move. I hope Stone doesn't complain about the umpiring like Hawk does. When he does that, he is unwatchable. But couldn't they have waited until the season is over for that?

    This is going to be a fun September. I wanted an exciting finish, and I think we are going to get it. The Cubs got to 20 over pretty quick. Then they plateaued. Then they got to 35 or so pretty quick. Now they regressed. This is just the ebb and flow of the season.

    Dye copied Zambrano's act where he hammers Fontenot into the ground. The Yankees, Rays, and Red Sox all can't be in it.

    That's one reason, but the Vikings also have maybe the best combined O and D lines in football.

    I wonder if the same will be said for the Bears defense, or whether Rivera knew how to coach them.

    That's correct. Didn't the Bears have the best field position in the NFL last year? The Bears have to make other teams pay for that. I heard that the Bears might be slotting their new LG to start b next week. That has to be an upgrade correct?

Wow, if they had missed the game that would have been embarrassing, but maybe it wouldn't have been a bad idea to miss tonight's game.

    Yea, they're saying it was self-inflicted. Was he throwing a fit or just trying to see what would happen if he swung a bat into a wall? "I fouled off the second pitch and did something I've done since I was a kid. I had the bat in my left hand and hit it with my right hand."

    He pitched pretty well even when he got squeezed. Take your anger out on the Cubs terrible hitting in that inning.

    Fukudome does not have the great throwing arm that he was said to have. He has an average arm. Soto cannot be that out in front of the plate. He has to be able to block it and wait for the throw. Great teams have to capitalize on first and third with no one out and your clean-up hitter coming up.

    Elca might care....but yea... I mean, Ill probably watch, because what else is there to do Sunday afternoon (unless the Cubs are on)? But at this point I have already written off the season as a lost cause. Week one should reinforce that. The Colts will win by 30, in fact i picked them in the survival pool posted above. The Bears are on Sunday evening (NBC) for the first game. You won't have to compete with the Cubs.

    its interesting Bazuin wasnt given more of a chance when guys like Bradley seem to hang around forever and produce only marginally more. The defense is stronger which made it harder for Okwo to find a spot. You and I can be the Bears 5th or 6th receivers.

    4, actually, in a row.... Just because he got away with pitching poorly the time before last doesn't mean he pitched well. Vs Cincy two starts ago he pitched 7 innings and gave up 1 earned run. I don't care if he got away with pitching poorly, but he has not had 4 bad starts in a row. You don't go 7 and give up 1 and call that a bad start. If he is out of shape, it will show up now - in the dog days of summer. Let's hope he has something left in the tank.

    That picture is freaky. Lou looks like he is about to kill someone with that street sweeper. Nice call by Lou. Good execution. The Cubs have not executed well lately (errors by Fukudome, Soriano, bad bunting by Cedeno, Soriano getting thrown out). Once the Cubs shore this up, they will be that much harder to beat.

    I see. That makes sense. I wonder how many times this situation could happen today. It could have happened during the White Sox win yesterday if the other team was smart.

    First round picks like Olson shouldn't be sharing time. They should also be able to block. He is always going to have a quick guy on him because whenever he is in the game, you know he isn't there to block. he isnt "sharing" time because he cant block, he is sharing time because he and dez clark are their two best receivers and both need to be on the field. this olson cant block thing is a myth. No it's not a myth. They had to draft a blocking TE because Olson can't do it. If Clark is better, then it was a mistake to draft him. First rounders aren't supposed to share time. Even if two TEs are on the field at the same time, Olson should be getting more time than Clark was at his draft position.
