  1. Him and the rest of the linemen too
  2. Who is "they"? Most everyone in golf has made a ton of money because of Tiger.
  3. yeah well, corey pavin is a [expletive] idiot. Today Pavin said that the Jim Gray interview that had him saying he would choose Tiger was misleading and that he did not say that. Who knows what to believe now. If Tiger doesn't improve soon, he shouldn't be picked for the Ryder Cup. He is 119th in Fed Ex Cup Points and about 160th in scoring average. Yes he is the number one player in the world, but that is after accumulating years of great playing and is not indicative of his current ability. There are just plenty of better people to pick. Plus Tiger hasn't played particularly well in the Ryder Cup at 7-11-2 even though he is holding down 10th place for Ryder Cup Points. But even that 10th place in the Ryder Cup standings does not reflect the fact that most of Tiger's points have come from last year. I still want to see how Tiger does this week. Woods has played well in the majors this year, and if he plays well at the PGA Championship, Pavin might pick him because Tiger is usually a great big stage golfer.
  4. Pavin just said "Of course I would pick Tiger since he's the number one player in the world." Maybe there is a private and public Ryder Cup discussion, or maybe you were talking to someone who looks like Corey Pavin. :D
  5. If you didn't notice that was exactly Pujols' routine to start the game If you didn't notice Pujols wasn't in the papers talking trash and telling everyone how much he hates the Reds.
  6. Phillips is a moron. How can you say that in the paper and then tap Molina to start the game?
  7. You were a true visionary. A blind squirrel can find a nut once in a while. The Cubs know they have their SS for next year. If they brought Castro up in September and he did well, I am not convinced they would have penciled him in for 2011. Isn't there a chance that they would have found a veteran SS to backup or compete with Castro in spring training next year if Castro had a mediocre September?
  8. Back to Brett and the texting. Last Monday when the news broke that Brett said he was hanging it up through a series of text messages, ESPN showed clips of Peterson and Allen saying they had received texts from Favre and texted back. I assumed that they were talking about the news of the day - that Brett gave them texts saying he was retiring. ESPN made it seem that Peterson and Allen were responding to the specific "this is it" text when the Vikings players were just talking about texting they had done with Brett during the offseason.
  9. Abdullah on the Vikings will fast (no water or food) from sunup til sundown to honor Ramadan during training camp. He can have a protein shake though. I have to hand it to be him for being a faithful Muslim cause I can imagine that is not easy to do. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/Ramadan-means-no-water-during-workouts-for-Husai?urn=nfl-261068
  10. if a deadlift is the same thing we call it, then that's not very impressive. I knew a junior in high school who did 625, and he couldn't have weighed much over 200. Hell I did 525 and I weighed 180 pounds. http://www.maxpreps.com/news/knavkaDjEd-YiQAcxJSkrA/football-leads-cuspard-to-world-record-in-deadlift.htm This article is 4 days old, so your buddy should make sure somebody knows that he set a world record. Pound for pound Alonzo Spellman was the strongest Bear of all time.
  11. How do you know? Peterson admitted on video he got a text. It is perfectly understandable that the Vikings are telling him to keep quiet. I don't think Allen said he didn't receive a text. He said he would believe Favre is does when he sees it. Either way multiple sources are saying that Favre put out texts saying he was through. WHERE IS THIS VIDEO? Can you please share it, because I know of no one else in the world who has seen such a thing. And I've been reading both Twin Cities papers every day while occasionally checking the message boards. You claimed both Allen and Peterson admitted they received the texts. So where did you see this? It was on Sports Center last Monday when the news broke. The only person who has ever denied the texting saga has been Brett Favre and he obviously can't be trusted. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/don_banks/07/31/ap.insider/index.html
  12. I was one of the only people who thought that Castro should have been brought up early this season. It looks like that was a good move by Hendry. Anyone feel differently?
  13. This could be the lowest point in Tiger's PGA Tour career (and he is still the #1 player in the world!). Unfortunately there is no cut at the WGC Firestone and he has to play all four rounds. The lowlights today: - He had a short chip and it rolled down a hill right back to him - He had a short approach shot that he must have hit 40 yards left of the hole. He then proceeded to go up to the ball very quickly with no practice swing and hit a 40 yard wedge halfway to the hole. He really didn't even try. It was John Daly-esque. If Phil lands in the top 4 tomorrow, he will be the number one player in the world. The thing with Tiger is that he doesn't seem to be getting better, but worse. Maybe the divorce is hanging over his head. It seems that he really won't be able to turn things around until that is finished. But I don't think anyone can guarantee that once that is passed, Tiger will return to form.
  15. I think they will. Lovie knows his job is on the line and he can't afford not to have an open competition. If Wooten or Idonije is better, they will play. I really don't like Anderson as an every down player. He is really only a 3rd down and medium or long DE. He is terrible against the run because of his stupid spin move that he uses constantly.
  16. Because no one believes that Favre would commit this early and you really can't trust anything Favre says. Two preseason games haven't occurred yet and it is the first week of training camp. Rumor has it that last Monday the Vikings insisted Favre tell them if he is going to play this year. Favre got mad and said no and texted a few of his teammates in return. The Vikings got nervous and upped his salary and probably told the players who did receive the text not to really admit it.
  17. Rolle isn't too much better than Chris Harris. I don't know if you can really argue that the Bears structured Peppers' contract beautifully when they weakened the other side of the defensive line by dumping Alex Brown's contract in order to pay for Peppers.
  18. i know that arkush hates the bears and whatever they do is the wrong thing. Arkush is awful. He's so clearly bitter at the Bears, and he doesn't even attempt to hide it. I really don't think he is bitter. A person can sound bitter when it is their job to talk and write and interact with a team that consistently makes poor moves. He seems pretty fair to me.
  19. watch espn for live sports and don't ever watch it otherwise. i guess pti is okay... maybe. I agree, thank god for the NFL and MLB networks. You know its bad when Deion Sanders is better to listen to than anyone on Disney's channel. I have no doubt that this was all just a ratings ploy done by ESPN and thought that from the beginning. Everyone who actually follows him and/or the Vikes know he is coming back as soon as they leave dorm life at training camp. (Disclaimer: Huge Brett fan.) Players (Peterson, Allen) have confirmed that they got texts from Brett telling them "this is it."
  20. I heard Hub Arkush mention this, but I never posted it. He said the Bears would have been better off with Aaron Kampman and Antron Rolle for the money that they spent on Peppers. Maybe they could have kept Alex Brown too. Does anyone know if the money the Bears spent on Peppers is more than what would have been spent on Kampman, Rolle, and Brown (assuming the Bears paid what those guys are getting this year)?
  21. Maybe. But it's not like a WR getting seperation is a rare occurence. The Bears are going to see Sidney Rice twice, Greg Jennings twice, Calvin Johnson twice, Randy Moss and others. They are going to get seperation a lot. The key is minimizing the damage done when a WR seperates and getting to the QB to not allow him to take advantage of it. Knox, Hester, and Aromashodu should be able to seperate with their speed, and it's a good sign that they are able to do it in practice. I just don't see how anything said this early on really means much of anything. So far the offensive line is looking terrible and that is a cause for concern even if it is the preseason.
  22. True, but the Bears do have some of the best straight line speed in the league with Knox and Hester.
  23. Reports are the Vikings upped Brett's contract to $20 million this season to lure him. Was this Brett's intention?
  24. Are the Bears better than the Vikings without Favre?
  25. Good. Make him the head coach too. It really is unbelievable that Jerry didn't address the offensive line this offseason. You can't get away with a poor line.
