Because the Bulls can't win a championship with that team in the near future. Rebuild it.

If Melo goes somewhere else and the Love trade doesn't work out, I wouldn't mind gutting the entire team starting with Noah and Taj and keeping only Rose.

Bulls will back into signing LeBron after Melo stays with NY. Melo will have this great look of surprise when he realizes he will never get out of the second round of the playoffs now.

Amnesty Boozer, trade Taj and Dunleavy How much money is Pau getting in that scenario? Have fun stopping teams with Carmelo and Pau on the floor. I really don't see Pau as any better than Taj right now. Plus Melo would be mad. He's hoping Taj stops his man after he blows by him on the way to the rim.

Kobe has made statements in the past similar to Derricks. He has, I think, specifically said he will not recruit melo but would give advice if asked. Something like that. Not according to Broussard. Kobe is recruiting Melo. Agreed. Rose, through Reggie, complained to the press over the winter for the Bulls to improve the roster even though they had the best record in the NBA or close to it the two last healthy years Rose had. Whether or not recruiting should be necessary isn't the point. It works. Stars want to be wanted. And the Bulls will be the old Bulls without Melo or Love. And Rose will be partially to blame. Reggie is bad for Derrick. Gotta get better people close to him.

I like this move. Maybe having a decent backup SF will help woo Melo or LeBron because someone else can play that position and score and give the starting SF some rest. So he can create his own shot, spot up a three, and play decent defense? Can he play SG too?

Yes it is. Melo has clear defensive deficiencies, never been close to a ring, and would be coming to a team that has had tons of success due to defensive prowess. LBJ is undisputed the best in the game. It's like Jordan vs. Iverson. But getting Melo or LeBron is not adding pieces. This isn't getting Grant or Rodman. You are adding superstars. But that's what the league is. You add superstars. And the Bulls, at least, have a team that is very close. It's not like the Knicks who tried to buy a ring with Melo and Amare 4 years ago. It's not even like the Heat, who had 2 straight 1st round exits (after a league worst 2008 season) and weren't really all that close 4 years ago before adding 2 superstars. That's why I don't care about building a team the "right way." The Bulls have drafted well and Thibs has developed players and made castoffs good money. But I'm tired of the old try hard Bulls. Get THE piece already.
