  1. Hopefully Bowden plus something...Plus for Bowden being Illinois is his home state IIRC...he was the top HS pitcher in Illinois in his draft year.
  2. Lol I remember those days. OOOOOOOOOH you meant...[expletive]. Edit: F yes on a Byrd trade. I'll take Campana's youth and then eventually what'shisnames talent. Maybe we can pick up an interesting arm or something.
  3. Oh on Baez to 2B or 3B...I would think you want to keep guys in the MIF as long as possible.
  4. Still remember when this guy was said to be the most talented pitcher in a system that just put out Prior. He really was filthy too in the tiniest doses at the big league level, especially early.
  5. Raley has been good thus far but still not striking many guys out. Notice this as well. I still kinda like him as a no stuff bor lefy type if he can get a few more K's. He's still one of the more athletic players in the upper levels of this system: IMO more interesting than Rusin because there's still room for growth for him as a pitcher. He was a two way player when drafted, and a talented hitter...At least IIRC I think he was rated as one of the top 2 way players in his draft year.
  6. I would think that 2B is the natural next spot for him after SS simply to keep the whole MIF value thing going.
  7. Balls. No one likes Baez as a 2B?
  8. And that's the goal!
  9. I'm annoyed that the Cubs haven't signed good players to this point and want them to spend in coming seasons. And yet, I wouldn't sign Greinke.* *For the deal I expect he'll receive. +1 The guy they SHOULD be going after is one, Cole Hamels. I hear he's got some talent. I think he's capable of and ready to lead a staff. Greinke seems to be a favorite here. My guess has been because he's the one everyone's seen the most. He's a few years removed from being crazy, but does crazy just leave? Would he really want to come to one of the three actual cities in this country with all of his social anxiety problems?
  10. Winn is a steal, and would work really well for the Ravens IMO. He's got some similarities to Darnell Dockett coming out of college including great athleticism and explosiveness for his size (as well as good upper body strength) as well as the ego to go with it. Also a good compliment to the guys the Ravens already have since he now becomes their most explosive guy on the DL.
  11. I wouldn't worry too much about fast or slow starts as we're not even officially 3 weeks in. OTOH I wish Vitters would start hitting some g'damn doubles.
  12. Really? Dempster? This season is not starting out too hot, is it?
  13. Good to see Concepcion get some K's.
  14. Yeah there's actually a ton of video on him. I take back the whole athletic part of what I said. Whoa that was off, by alot. The big question is there any way to mess this pick up? I would be fine with them drafting any of Appel, Buxton, Gausman, Zunino, Correa, Giollito, Almora, Wacha (who is not Dan Haren), and Fried. In other words, still prefer the arm.
  15. No doubt about it just referencing Fuentes for body type and "that type of athlete." Didn't know he was that highly ranked...though I did hear he was at worst the 3rd best HS position player.
  16. He is but there's still like a dozen draftable WRs still on the board (at the minimum). The depth at the position this year is ridiculous...OTOH, Givens is one of the better ones.
  17. Wang is some high praise...Really good pitcher who would have been a much more well known prospect if he managed to stay healthy in the minors. His fastball could hit 97 with that kind of sink, and IIRC there was a year where he averaged 93-94 with the pitch...I can only hope Wells shows that kind of velocity in the long run. Difference between Wells and all these guys seems to be the breaking ball...He seems to be ahead of all of them but Westbrook in that area. Said it before and I'll say it again...guy is the most complete starting pitching prospect in this system, which is great for him.
  18. I was just reading about Almora...tools wise he's my kind of very young CF prospect (always on the lookout for the next Carlos Beltran - switch hitting not being part of the criteria)....sounds alot like Reymond Fuentes (Red Sox first round pick traded for Gonzalez) actually but with just a touch more present power (maybe). Became one of my favorite HS players in this draft very quickly, but worth the 6th? Eh. Doubt he makes it to 43 but I'd pounce...
  19. Really wish Weathers would throw strikes because his stuff is nasty when he's on. Guy walks the farm...nice replacement for Chris Archer in the system. Yes, I have an unnatural and unnecessary dislike for Chris Archer ever since the whole "he could be BETTER than Garza" stuff was spewed.
  20. Looking forward to some Cates and Wells, especially Wells. For shiggles...anyone want to try an ultimate ceiling comp for Wells? I keep thinking Jake Westbrook, who was a touted sinker/breaking ball prospect, but Wells has a bigger frame and his youth gives him some chance to add some velocity. Derek Lowe with less sinker but more breaking stuff? Doesn't mean anything I just like general pictures in my head to build on.
  21. Nice pick. I've been thinking about taking him for the past 2 rounds. Was hoping he'd fall under the radar til the 4th round. Literally wrote his name out of the Cardinals, but balked as their starting C has been there a while and after Fitzgerald they really only have Doucet. Figured a TE was a nice blend of OL help and pass catching help, and Egnew is a good talent.
  22. +1 Most of those guys don't and won't have much value by mid-season anyway...The most physically talented guy there is the highly inconsistent, hoping to rebuild his stock McNutt.
  23. No bueno. Bump in the road for Shark hopefully...second of hopefully not too many more.
  24. Are we strictly talking pitchers? Otherwise it should've been locked before it started. Most definitely pitchers...Just a decade ago the Cubs were the envy of the league there...for a year. I truly despise Dusty Baker as a baseball man the second I'm reminded about Prior.
