  1. Size, with Mason being 3-5 inches taller? Age when drafted out of HS? Both irrelevant?
  2. I can't imagine the Yanks would hesitate for a moment to shell out ace money for as many ace guys as they could acquire reasonably. I bet they'd be thrilled to have last year's Phillies rotation, for example. I bet they'd love to have Lee at his contract price or Hamels at his current price...Hernandez is reasonably priced for another couple of years and then he's easily topping any of the Philly 3's contract. I don't even think Halladay's overwhelmingly paid either... That's not even factoring in wear and tear, a mysterious drop in velocity (I'll find the article), the Yankees would be giving up 2 of the best prospects in baseball, he'd be a FA in two years...There's a whole mess with that for a franchise looking to shorten their long term payroll....and I didn't even bring up that CC and Lee originally came from a franchise that at least saw SOME success after 2001. So sure, price a rotation with 3 aces sensibly like Philly did and the Yankees would jump all over it. That doesn't seem like its really the case with that Hernadez rumor that doesn't matter anymore.
  3. I'd want Jackie Bradley or Xander from the Red Sox. Bradley Jr. is my type of hitter...Really studies the stuff too: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/qa-jackie-bradley-jr-bosox-blueprint/ One of the better interviews you'll see from a young player, or maybe any player.
  4. What one franchise calls 7 years experience another may call 7 years wear and tear. What's Felix experienced anyway? A great pitching home park, a couple of high end Ds, and a whole lot of losing? Not that Hernandez isn't dirty, just that there's far more to consider than that (like the Yankees urge to pay two guys ace money).
  5. Cardinals take LB DeMario Davis
  6. Betances, Banuelos, Sanchez? mason williams He's going to be widely considered their best prospect by midseason. That's already happening....Great name for a Yankee prospect....Also like Angelo Gumbs, but he probably needs another one or two years before the hype. Banuelos is good stuff too so Williams is going to be a big deal. Really looks like a stud....
  7. If I were them I'd be hanging on every AB. That's a lot of money and time for him to waste.
  8. Wonder what this was....FOs SackSeer2 stuff?
  9. I think Barron and Smith are really close. I'm thinking Barron being on Alabama's defense is helping to overrate him a bit in the draft. He's clearly a first round talent, but I've seen him go as high as top 10 or right on the fringe of the top 10 in some mocks. Seems way too high to me. Personally think Barron was the best player on Alabama's D...Called the shots in the secondary especially and was a huge part in the draft stock of guys like Kirkpatrick and Jackson IMO. Probably the most intelligent and experienced of the defensive draft prospects...I'm extremely high on this player. Think he's a Troy Polamalu level talent... Smith was that for ND, but to the extent that ND took it....Plus he's kinda stiff.
  10. Well at least Concepcion settled down. Any tweets or something in velocity? Is he 19 or 20?
  11. IIRC he's had injuries before and I know some people didn't love his mechanics. Time for some stem cells...
  12. Kinda pissed I missed this gem. All it needs is a...well I can't type it out. Anyway, that shoulder surgery sucks for Pineda and the Yankees but keep in mind that the injury is less of a career killer than it would be a decade ago and especially 20 years ago. I say Banuelos for Dempster!
  13. Personally think he's two three rounds ahead of all of them...I like Iloka and Robinson some, particularly Iloka.
  14. Agreed...Pretty meh on him...Nice player but would prefer more pass rush/playmaking ability. People talk about how Barron gets a boost topping a crap safety class... If Barron is the average one and the best of the bunch...?? Really hoping the Jets land Barron.
  15. I would break the screen if I checked out the Jets' draft tomorrow and those were the first two picks.
  16. Rangers during Summer 2010: -Ahem-We're....we're uh, bankrupt. *Turns around, opens door, walks in, and then closes door and blinds. Comes out ten minutes later.* BILLIONS of dollars will be coming in! I realize it's way more legit than that before anyone feels the need to jump on that, but that period of bankruptcy was hilariously quick and I like a good poorly thought out conspiracy. You know Hicks isn't the owner anymore right? Yep. Did I hint that I didn't? Still shady to me...
  17. Hey hey three lefties and one or two might not suck.
  18. For those who missed it Darvish unleashed filth upon the Yankees lineup last night.
  19. Pickings are slim right now. There's good arms but no one you really see as a future lock down type closer. Tony Zych throws really hard and his slider can be nasty at times. That's a bunch of Cubs relief arms in a nutshell, but he was a well liked relief arm in last years draft.
  20. ^ Exaxtly and man you're careful with your wording. They didn't draft Simpson as a mid-80s guy who'd both lose size and injure his elbow in his first season of pro ball. It's a case of [expletive] happens...if they missed out on someone obvious, then sure...If he actually lacked talent on draft day, then sure...If the Cubs were an out of the box drafting team in the surrounding years then I'd see the flaw that they were trying to play games in the draft...simply looks like they took who they liked most and could afford to pay and he hasnt come flying out of the gates most likely due to a series of illness and injury. I'm not losing sleep over missing anyone who went after 16 in the draft...Lee would have been nice but grand scheme he's not elite and he's very expensive as prospects go. Not like Simpson is done with pro ball after 3-4 April games second pro season...not that there's much room for optimism it seems.
  21. I never give up on 1st rounders until they turn 26 but I'm hoping for a 7th inning arm at this point. what if the first rounder should have been picked like 3 rounds later? Based on the arbitrary pre-draft rankings that come draft day more than one team seemed to be willing to ignore if we believe THOSE rumors are true? Not much.
  22. I never give up on 1st rounders until they turn 26 but I'm hoping for a 7th inning arm at this point. Kinda agree with this...privilege of being a first rounder.
  23. That sucks. In the early going this year looks like a good old fashioned injury bust.
