    Overall just not an impressive class IMO...I'd like to find some sleepers but the ones I have heard of don't seem all that exciting.

    For me, it comes down to how the internal scouting reports really come out on Fried. I know what's out there publicly, but if the Cubs felt that Fried could add a few ticks to his fastball (and some public reports seem to hint that), then I think I might take the power lefty over Almora. Close, though. I prefer a HS arm's best pitch be his fastbal I guess. The only really exciting HS arm for me is Giolito. If they like how Fried projects then sure, but IMO the most projectable/likeable LH HS arm is Virant. Better athlete, better mechanics, not as dependent on his breaking pitch...Virant is some good stuff and if he threw harder I think he'd be a top tier guy in this draft. I will say that I've gone back and forth on Fried...

    Especially if Hamels doesn't hit the market. I still think Anibal's contract will be less than Greinke/Hamels' and I'm not sure he's that much worse. Hamels Greinke Sanchez Nothing against him...but we've got a guy with multiple surgeries/arm injuries...maybe tops out at 93...pitched in a pitchers park...Think he's closer to a Dempster type than he is a Hamels or Greinke type...Greinke would be elite for me if he didn't have that crazy period...same draft as Hamels IIRC....he went 6th...that year was loaded with HS talent....still probably my favorite draft. I probably wouldn't complain about Sanchez as a secondary signing, especially if Dempster leaves. He's originally a Red Sox arm so Theo/McLeod knows of him, he's obviously extremely hard working and level mentally (seriously, he got HAMMERED with injuries), and he's a very quality #3 if you're into that number thing. Would not take him over Hamels because of price....One because it's horse dooty that the Cubs should pinch pennies when there's talent to be had and two because Hamels will get more money for a reason (he's just better, period). I really dislike the idea that this fanbase is tentative to spend (also that Dodgers thing...yuch).

    He was overrated to start with being a standout starter prospect in a dry system, and by 2010 his stuff AND mechanics was falling off a cliff. Similar to how Chris Archer being rated high within the system was treated as a big deal despite his extremely obvious flaws. Yes, relative to the rest of the system he stood out and was worth talking about, but grand scheme he was a slightly bigger fish in a small pond. Jackson was never a very athletic guy, he was a short RH, his fastball was never standout...Not much room for error in prospectdom. Possibly he emerges as a pen arm one day and that's fine, but not someone I'd hold my breath on.

    Agreed with CR on Stroman there...Seen him more than I've seen Gausman this year (unfortunately and fortunately) and I see an athlete with very good core strength who repeats his delivery very well and throws his top two pitches consistently well. Already made the comp to Sheets in this thread and I like it more than I hate it.

    I'd take Almora over Fried. Might take Almora over Correa as well. Almora is really fm interesting...Seems to have the talent to be an electric CF talent.

    They really should revisit converting him to the bullpen before sticking a fork on him or dubbing him as organizational. Once again, I think you missed that he's been organizational for a couple of years now. Guy hasn't been good or even talented in a long time.

    Cerda is good stuff. Always been young, decent athlete, and one of the guys in the system who drew/draws walks. I'm really curious as to what his ceiling is...Almost want to call him a Todd Walker type 2B, but I think he's seeing time at 3B as well lately. Long term he might be more of a utility option that Cardenas because he might have more power... One of the favorites to replace LeMahieu as my favorite sleeper 2B prospect/utility guy.

    Never liked it. I tried it a few times in high school and it just made me massively paranoid. Just doesn't do it for me. Speaking of horror have you seen The Divide? It's on vod and it looks really good. Directed by Xavier Gens who made Frontier(s) which I loved. Looks intense. If its on demand I'll have to catch it because Frontier(s) was a good watch. DID see Insidious and it lived up to the hype. Didnt even smoke any pot before watching it.

    Mr. Going to Be Better than Garza is sporting a 26/23 K:BB in 30 innings in AAA. He's still working on finding a place where he walks less than 5 per 9 over a solid sample size. But herpity derpity they were top 10 prospects in a system so the loss is devastating...Yuch.

    That's pretty devastating. Crazy how I basically got to see entire career of Rivera, Pettite, Jeter, Posada, and the vast majority of Williams'. I guess that's not so crazy...all it required was being alive, having a TV, and living in the general area of where they play baseball. I have to hope he stem cells it up and comes back. They're the future, today! Robertson should be a quality successor for them. Time to dangle Marmol? They won't bite, but imagine!

    It's sounded like his last year according to some media somewhere for a decade now. That said, a blown out knee might make it more likely than usual. Of course, he's Rivera so he might just get mad that he closes out his career on an ACL tear. Either way, David Robertson is awesome.
