As for Texas they are pretty much bringing most everyone back outside of Abrams, had maybe the 2nd best class behind Kentucky (Jordas Hamilton and Avery Bradley) and a transfer of Jai Lucas from U of Florida. Damion James and Dexter Pittman should be very good this season too. IIRC, the thing about Texas is they didn't have a trustworthy PG last year. That (and Abrams not being quite the player they expected) really hurt them. The addition of Bradley alone will improve the Horns dramatically. How does Bradley help the problem of not having a PG? I was under the impression he could handle the ball. Is that false? EDIT: I thought he was more of a ball handler. Still, they added Lucas, too, who is a true PG. Richardson ran the point at Findlay, Bradley was the shoot 30 times per game guy. Not that he wasn't worthy of shooting 30 times per game, he's an incredible scorer, but he wasn't a PG type.

I'm happy you guys are ranked. 6 of 11 teams are ranked. Sweet. Damn it, you just reminded me how annoying it is that this whole thread is going to be Big Ten slurping. (They'll likely deserve it, granted, but it'll still be annoying.) The Big Ten has a good argument for being the best conference in basketball. 9/11 of the teams have tourney hopes to start the season, they have top end teams in MSU and Purdue, the only argument against them is Iowa and Indiana, but I'm not really sure there's a conference that doesn't have an IU and Iowa. It's certainly better than the Big East slurping that went on last year because of all their high end teams(all the while ignoring the utter dreck at the bottom) which amounted to 0 teams in the Championship. I think ND(and Georgetown) makes the tourney btw on a dead cat bounce and a down year for the Big East.

Well yeah, I don't really consider Hoff as an OF, but -22 seems extreme. -
Hoff can play the field respectably.

So did half a dozen teams who fared better last year than Texas. Oh and if Purdue makes the Final Four in Indy I might have to drop a crap load of money and get a ticket. At the very least I think I would fly home and stay in Indy for the Final Four. So what if teams return everyone? Why do you ignore teams adding talented players? Because Purdue isn't.

Kentucky also has an absurd freshman class coming in and way underperformed their talent level last year. Georgia Tech being ranked at all is kinda ridiculous though. They were just a terrible basketball team last year, I don't think Derrick Favors and a decent supporting cast of freshmen makes them a tourney team.

Some people alway vote for the last years champion until the season starts. Well only one guy did that, it still doesn't quite explain why they're ranked 4th.

Shaq and Z should never be on the court at the same time. You don't need to be a genius to figure that out. Yeah, it was a bit sad when Z was trying to cover 'sheed in the Celtics game. You act like anyone can guard Sheed.

I don't understand why they won't just go end of season standings 1-11 every year. Yeah, with roster turnover, the matchups won't always be fair, but the seemingly random draw they do now doesn't create fair matchups either. At least have some sense behind them. MSU vs UNC IL vs WAKE PU vs DUKE WIS vs FSU OSU vs CLEM PSU vs BC UM vs MD MN vs VT NU vs MIAMI IA vs NCSU IU vs VA makes a lot more sense pretty much across the board.

I love Talor Battle, but Penn St. was a 3 man team last year, and they lost 2 of them. I wouldn't be shocked to see the Big Ten get 8 teams this year with Northwestern being the 8th, not Penn St.

-Indiana, Iowa, and Virginia are all embarrassing basketball teams. -Duke and MSU are really good. -I don't think much of Miami -Illinois/Clemson and NU/NC State are toss ups.

I still think we should try to trade Bradley and maybe Heilman for Wood. Eric Wedge hates Milton Bradley. And Aaron Heilman should be non-tendered. -
I never got why people praised the network all summer. I gave up on it in spring training. It's a PR machine. Everybody is above average. I like it for the live look-ins and the out-of market games. Their baseball tonight is as bad as baseball tonight.

That's also what you might expect to hear from an owner who is about to cut the payroll by significant margins over the next several years. Spending 120m hasn't won them anymore World Series rings than the 60m team from about 8 years ago. Except, Levine says that Ricketts will continue to make the Cubs a top 5 payroll team. And a 60M payroll 8 years ago isn't that far off from a 120M payroll today.
