  1. Fangraphs has average velocity by pitch type.
  2. lol Francouer
  3. That reminds me does anyone know of a place that does a stat for balls caught that a player with an estimated average speed would not get to? I highly doubt it as its a very hard stat to do and is going to subjective to a degree but I've always wanted to see how many more outs are recorded by a guy with Crawford's speed. Or maybe a place that creates a graph for the estimated feet traveled for each catch made. That would have the same affect. Speed isn't the only thing that decides how far you travel to make a catch.
  4. based on what? the reds offense has been crap the last 2 seasons, and that's with a ballpark helping them The Reds have a lot of young talent, I'm afraid of them over the next couple years.
  5. How can you prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the ball is in his hands in that photo (I'm pretty sure I know the angle and photo you are referring to)? It looks like it is, but there's another angle where it looks like it's out. So which one is right? What angle are you looking at? The one obstructed by his left hand or the one obstructed by the ball? All you can say is those angles were inconclusive. Every angle on the court doesn't have to have irrefutable evidence in order to overturn.
  6. How is a stillframe with the ball in his hands and the clock at 0 inconclusive?
  7. Tex is a great defender.
  8. That is a possibility, however, the Cubs are notoriously short-sighted and schizo with guys. They knew Bradley was a combustible nut job with inconsistent productivity and health concerns. and after one year of him doing almost exactly what many thought he'd do, they are trying to get rid of him. When they acquired Harden they acknowled he need to be treated cautiously, given extra rest between starts, and for the most part they did that in 2008. Then, in 2009, they throw all that out the window and expect him to be an every 5th day pitcher, and seemingly sour on him when that doesn't turn out to be a good idea. They gave up on Pie in a heartbeat, introduced Patterson to the public as a middle of the order hitter then allowed a bad manager to try and turn him into a slappy Otis Nixon wannabe. This is a really good summary of what the Cubs do wrong. Set unrealistic/stupid expectations, get pissed at the player for not doing what nobody but them expected. It's a bunch of square pegs/round holes, and it's why rookies are never given a chance.
  9. I never knew it changed from the original discussion. You can talk up Bradley all you want, but the damage is done. Lots of people were adamant that they could trade him with minimal financial loss and significant talent return. I think you mean or.
  10. Don't worry guys, I'm pulling for you.
  11. We'll still need a CF. Sign Cameron. That makes the lineup Fukudome Castillo Lee Ramirez Cameron Soriano Soto Theriot I'm not saying I want Figgins signed to 5/70, just being realistic.
  12. Barnes to decide on Friday.
  13. IT'S PRONOUNCED TOOL NOT TOLL
  14. Maybe he'll take a heavily forested route home.
  15. That'd just be for one season before he moved to first. It's still probably a bad idea, though. Then we're giving up all of our top prospects to have a great 1B for 1 year in 2011.
  16. Yes, this is ridiculous. It's not like this is Gonzalez appoaching the Cubs with a blank check. This is giving up all of our top prospects to watch a 1B stumble around in the OF to see if he can manage to give back 2 runs on D for every one produced on offense.
  17. He was outrighted at the end of the year, if I'm remembering the rules correctly, the only way they lose him this offseason is via rule 5.
  18. Never say never. From no votes whatsoever to #31 in the AP in two weeks. Stranger things have happened. Truth is, UT does not deserve to be ranked. But, looking at the past 4 games, they are playing as well as maybe the best 20 teams in the country. Again, I;m not saying they are one of the top 20 teams, but they've played that way in their past 4. Win out, and they get Iowa or Penn State. Win that, and I'd have to believe they finish in the top 15-20, which is miles ahead of where anyone expected them to be. They're "#31" in the AP poll, but they only appeared on 5 ballots. I'd be surprised if they weren't ranked with a 9-4 finish, but voters don't view close losses the same way we do unless it happens to have happened that week.
  19. There's pretty much no way a 6-4 Tennessee team gets ranked. And after looking at the voting, there's no way Ole Miss picks up enough votes to make it either.
  20. Hahaha one of my favorite schools. A school named after a state that is not in that state. On top of that it's not even a bordering state. I remember first learning about that when I was a kid and thinking it was funny. I use it as a trivia question sometimes. It's named that because the college is located in the city of Indiana.
  21. 3rd and 4 and you called a reverse. W T F
