Please Explain.... Other than Age, what does Granderson have over Lee? Lee is a better run producer and has a better glove at his position and is a better hitter. Granderson has good speed but he's not a base stealer and he's not exactly an impressive lead off hitter with those numbers. Lee also isn't a platoon player at his position. Age, Contract, Defense(Even if Lee is a better defender than Granderson, debatable at best; a good defensive CF is worth a hell of a lot more than a great defensive 1B), baserunning -

Why wouldn't the Angels just deal with the Padres directly for Gonzalez? Cause they're probably not giving up much in terms of prospects? That or Reagins is really dumb

It's also possible that Granderson already is altering his swing with 2 strikes. His ISO is over 100 points higher with less than 2 strikes than with.

Can't wait to see Illinois get murdered in a couple weeks, though. Illinois is showing why it doesn't pay to schedule tough OOC unless you're a top team. If they went with 4 cupcakes they'd be 6-6 and going to some awful bowl game. Instead they'll probably be 3-9.

Eliminating strikeouts would indeed require an altered approach (although arguably only once the count reached two strikes). There's certainly no evidence that either less solid contact or fewer hits would be the ultimate outcome though. Those conclusions are each highly speculative and debateable. About the most I'd be comfortable assuming is that SLG in 2-strike counts would go down (and I have, by adding in only singles). What evidence exists that a player can simply eliminate half his strike outs if he'd just shorten up his swing? What makes you think the type of contact made on pitches that would ordinarily result in Ks would give you hits 30% of the time?

Illinois lost at home to Tennessee State in '08 and won 16 games that year. That game didn't even have the excuse of being the 1st game of the year with a lot of young players. These games happen sometime.s
