  1. Are they bringing back a 38 year old injured Carlos Delgado? Also, Jeff Francouer is horrible. Nice 3-4-5 though.
  2. And he was an engineering major. It'd be nice if people like him would fill the role the John Kruks and Mark Graces of the world are filling. Though I guess Glanville wouldn't have a whole lot of desire to have that schedule either.
  3. Gatorade Tiger was half off at the grocery store yesterday, and for that I am thankful.
  4. Was Favre's fumble a problem?
  5. Neither of those teams will be in the NFC Championship. Sounds good to me, as long as Farve somehow ends up with egg on his face and the Vikings don't win the Super Bowl. Not winning the Super Bowl means he'll end with egg on his face? He played a great game tonight and took control of things in the second half. It's not his fault the o-line has stretches where they don't know how to block and the defense suddenly is horrible. Or that the defensive coordinator (who supposedly would be a top target of the Bears if Lovie is fired) insists on blitzes that never get there and leaving an 80% CB one-on-one in overtime. Or has a running back who fumbled the game away. Yep, Adrian Peterson is the problem.
  6. Karl Ravech just called him "Matt 40."
  7. Favre is such a dork.
  8. Love that you have Hak Ju Lee as equivalent to Andres Blanco. The Mets are giving up more talent and paying more money in that trade.
  9. That wouldn't even make them the worst in the NBA
  10. I believe pitch counts are necessary because managers are too stupid and meatheaded to monitor their pitchers on a case by case basis. A pitching coach should be able to monitor a pitcher's mechanics, notice when things are breaking down due to fatigue, track a pitcher's usage following high stress innings/outings, but they don't.
  11. This would've been really fun if this happened before ND found a new coach. People would've been coming out calling Meyer a liar and a weasel, only to find out he was sick.
  12. Valverde is good, but I'm not sure anyone wants him @ $20 million over 4 years. Yeah, he'll definitely make more than that.
  13. Look at the fire and passion! Just what this team needs!!!
  14. I'm more than fine with standing pat. I hate spending money on the bullpen.
  15. I wouldn't want either contract. However, at 3/30, Lowe might produce at the level of that contract in, at least, one of the years. At 2/14, Silva almost certainly won't produce at or near the expected level of production for his contract. Like I said, I don't want either contract, but if I had to choose, it'd probably be Lowe's. But those aren't your choices. Swapping Silva's contract for Lowe essentially means you paid Silva his full contract, and then went and signed Lowe to a 3/30 deal. That's bad.
  16. I really hope SI never goes under. Their photography is unmatched. They're way less obnoxious than ESPN as well.
  17. Well it comes down to signing a 3/30 contract for a 37 year old Derek Lowe when you frame it like that. I don't think I could sign off on that. (This is assuming a 0 value for Silva, which I really hope is true rather than the negative value he'd certainly provide if he ever pitches for us.)
  18. Gregg will probably be a decent bargain for somebody. I can't see him getting much more than 1M now that his closer shine is officially off.
  19. Agreed. I took it as more of a "fair is fair" type hypothetical.
  20. I've never seen an official botch a call as badly as that ball that Tisdale supposedly knocked out of bounds while trailing the guy by 15 feet. [expletive] Missouri, I'd rather have lost to Loyola (MD)
  21. Why are we acting like Theriot verbally raped Milton, his kids, wife, and mother? I don't see his comments as being that awful. (unless there is more to it that I haven't seen, which is very possible) I'm not sure what comments you are referring to, but Theriot was the centerpiece of the teammates who were quoted all over the place about Milton. Dempster said some things, but also said something about welcoming him back which sounded like BS but served its purpose. I think Ramirez had the classiest response, acknowledging that Milton had issues but more importantly stating it was meaningless and had no effect on the season. Some of these guys sounded more than willing to feed into the nonsense that Milton's attitude somehow contributed to the team struggling. I was just referring to the quotes from the story linked above. I guess the larger point is that I don't think it matters one bit what Theriot thought of, or said about MB, when it comes to evaluating his place on the ballclub. Yet you think what MB thought about his teammates or Cub fans should have driven him out?
  22. Argle Bargle, can't even get up for Mizzou trash talk anymore.
  23. Cincy
  24. I wish the Cubs actually let Pie fail over and over again with the Cubs.
  25. I have literally never heard of this guy
